Do all Mk2/Mk3 Drivers just ignore us Mk1 owners?

I was just wandering about the question above since EVERY Mk2/Mk3 I wave to in my Mk1 either ignore me of glare at me as if I am a weirdo. If I wave at other Mk1 owners I get a response but EVERY Mk2/Mk3 I have waved to in Hampshire just ignore me?

Kidding.. I ponder flashing/waving at every Mk1 & Mk2 I see - but considering none of the Mk3 owners ever wave back, I figure I'll get even weirder looks from the Mk1 & Mk2 owners (especially given what most Mk2 owners seem to think of the Mk3 - they'd probably think I was coming on to them! )

In fact, only about 1 in 10 MR2 owners bother to wave back (regardless of model) so I pretty much give up waving or popping my headlights these days.

I wave to mk1 owners in my mk2... I never wave to mk3 owners....

After owning a Mk1 for many years and now a Mk2 Turbo, I will try my best to say hello as I cannot and will not forget the amazing Mk1.

Dont get me wrong but the Mk1 is such a different beast that I just feel i'm waving at a different car if I wave at a Mk1. You wouldnt see a Mk4 golf GTI driver waving at a Mk1 golf GTI driver I reckon for the same reasons. Doesnt mean I dont respect them any less though.

True, but then the VW Golf isn't that sort of car where people are likely to wave. Classic Beetle drivers wave to each other, as to classic Mini drivers - even MX5 drivers do. Why the MR2 fratenity has to be different I don't know!

This is true - heck, I had my very first (ever) acknowledgement today.. rather nice looking lady smiled as she went round the roundabout (I was waiting to pull on, roof down, natch) in her blue Mk3

Then again - when I was driving the 300ZX (which is arguably rarer than any of the MR2s on the roads) I never had anyone wave back..

People are just scared of looking stupid, or don't see you, 90% of the time I guess.

I wave at mk2's because that's what i drive, but i do wave back to mk1 owners if they wave first. mk3 drivers are just so what's the point (only joking, i wave back to them if they wave first too).

But the amount of people who wave at all is very minimal and makes me wonder why i bother.

I'll usually wave or flash any mr2, as long as i see them in time.

I'd wave back at any MR2... though i'd only initiate teh wave at a MK1.

No ones ever waved at me though.

I'd prob be confused if a stranger waved at me. If a nice looking girl did it'd be different though.

I find i get a few MR2 drivers in Mk wave at me.. I always stick me lights on when i pass one. I nodded at a Mk1 driver yesterday. He nodded back. My girlfriend was like... Ehh ?? whats that all about. I said well he has an MR2. She looked at me like i was a crazy person

Dont forget alot of MR2 drivers arent members of geeky clubs like us and prob genuinely do think wtf is that wierd man waving at me for.

Again, I like the all MR2s (even the Mk3) but theMini and the Beetel are different case, niether significantly changes during their whole production runs. The same could NOT be said of each Mk of the the MR2. Another example, different mark Corollas or Supras???
