Dynoed my mr2 today, 253rwhp *GRAPH ADDED*

Post by Al-sw20 »

Put my 2 on the dyno today. Came away with 189rwkw or 253 rear wheel hp. Boost peaked at 17.6psi and levelled off at 16psi with fresh airport avgas in the tank, a/f was totally flat when it came onto boost and with an 11.1 a/f, no where near lean. I'll get the dyno scanned up and post it.

Quick question, I "heard" from an Evo lad that AVGAS in Jap imports was a bad idea, he didnt state why though so just wondering what others thought.

Good stuff on the performance run mate!

and this 253 bhp, is that at the wheels or the fly? If that is at the wheels then you must have more mods than stated on your profile

253 hp at the rear wheels. Made peak power at 16psi.

I only have the mods listed.

Nice result mate, although isn't 16 PSI a bit too high for a rev 1 engine?

No like i said it isnt running lean. 11.1:1 a/f. I could run 18psi and it wouldnt have exceeded 12.5:1 resulting in around 270rwhp and the most the stock 440s would be 'safe' for. I do run 18psi at the track with no problems

It is running out of juice if its heading towards the 12's !!?

Its pulling 10/11's mid range then going to the 12's above 6k ?

11.5 a/r is the tuning norm for keeping things cool... sure its overfuelling, running in the 12's, then the unit starts to gradually get hot.

Okay for the quick stab at the qrt, but a day at the track day will finish a piston off.

Good result though chap ! I have a friend that managed 270RWBHP too, but he was running water injection too ! :)

Theres a peak of boost (17.6psi) around the 4000rpm mark, along with torque and power, then it drops for a second and then picks up again,im assuming this is the tvis butterflies opening and then the profec b compensating and bringing it down to the set 16psi. Boost and a/f are dead flat at 16psi and 11.1 : 1 a/f respectively until redline.

Ahhh, I was assuming AVGAS was some sort of low octane NZ stuff, I'm happy now :)
