I am getting pretty fed up with people making 'this club' and 'that club' remarks. Get OVER it and enjoy wherever you are, I find this kind of thing childish in the extreme. In future I WILL moderate this kind of stupidness. Yes that means a warning and a ban if we have to.

Also give people a break. If they want to stick a Ferrari kit on that's their choice. Just because you don't like it there is no need to be so in your face - by all means give the people your thoughts but there is absolutely no need to be rude.

If this i directed at myself Toni then I apologise if it has come across as strong but everything I've said is fact. I have not insulted the guy directly and I'm not singling out his car.

I do, however, feel it's important to let him know how the majority of people feel about these kits and how Ive witnessed eveen membes of the public view these cars. How upsetting would it be if we all kept our mouths shut , then after thousands of pounds , they just got laughed at in the street? If after all weve said , he still decides to go for it, good for him but at least he has all the points of view.

Again, no intention to be rude.

Thanks,

Bobby

Bobby

No not at you personally, it's a general point.
I only ask people think a bit about how they are coming across, particularly if somebody is fairly new.

i find it intriging how much certain people get worked up over this subject and border on the edges of insulting said persons without cause just bcuz they want to put a kit on there 2.
And no bobby i do not want another debate with you as we have already gone down that route and we both know what we think about it all.

i'm just curious if i'm going to be flamed in same way when my 2 is TRD kitted in the summer(hopefully).

In my opinion mate the 355 kit can go one of 2 ways....

Really looks bad and you get laughed at

Or

Looks ok and you get attention from people who don't know their stuff, you then get laughed at by people who do

My advice is if you're gonna get one make sure it's a good one and that will cost ya (for some reason the good ones are sooooo expensive but they do come with some original Ferrari parts)

Whatever you decide to do DONT do this....

bodykits are personal preferance and i think some of you are being a bit harsh with this guy, its his car and a lot of people like these 355 kits not everyody can afford a real 355 so why not have a looka like?
the ferrari kits arent to my taste because i dont see the point in lookin like some thing its not .putting a ferrari engine into an mr2 that would be diffrent.
on a diffrent note. that f40 looks ok in the photo but i live next to the garage that has it and its the worst kit ive seen on a car. looks like someones cut a shell out of plastic and stuck it over the car it looks really cheap. if you look through the gaps and grills and intakes you can clearly see the original body of the mr2. it wouldnt fool anybody.
like everybody else says. if your gonna put a kit on make sure its done properly or it will look worse than superglueing a corsa and ramraiding halfords.

LOL,fair play mate. :D :D

must admit the f40 in scotts thread is a sad excuse for a replica and i cannot believe anyone would like it or pay that kind of money.

and i am not being hypocritical as i think if someone is going to replicate a car it should be done as close to the real thing as possible(ie:most people would be fooled by it) so at least the finished car will hopefully look good!!

has i have said in a previous thread ,i would love a gt40 replica as basically they look just like the real thing. which even if you were loaded you probably wouldn't be able to get youre hands on a real one.

and i would take great pride in telling everyone it was a kit which i built myself.

For my experience what ever you do some people will take the p!ss no matter how well its done, an if its done badly you'll get shot down instead of given constructive advice of where it could be improved.
As long as your happy with your mods, body kits or just side skirts "do your thang" but look at what others have done to sus well fitted partsfrom bodge jobs......

I drop my car off to the www.mr2kits.co.uk dude in June.

People run their mouths too much on the internet.

I've told loads of different people about what I'm doing and not one person has said a bad word, most are fascinated that it can be done and can't wait to see it (most of my mates think they are borrowing it...yeah right).

It is an expensive venture, but hey, each to their own.

People may think what im doing is strange ...

I could buy a Porsche Boxster for the same money but when I see some of the crazy kits for the MR2 (costing thousands) that to me, is strange.

How people can sit here and aggressively hate the f355 kit is beyond me.

I'm gonna badge it up like a Ferrari, get some Ferrari rims, even having the horse sown in the headrests. BIG DEAL!

Don't hate... tolerate.

Its not a personal hate mate, I think youve seen my opinion on these kits a page ot two back but I feel the other reason so many people get aggressive to people who do this is because :

a) these are people pretending to be something they are not. (and no one like liers)
b) these are obviouly people whodont appreciate MR2s and in some cases are ashamed of MR2s therefore why would these people be supported by a forum full of people who love the MR2????? What else is expected???

If you went to a Ferrari forum and said, " Hi guys, I love the look of you cars, I cant afford one but I'm gonna build a replica from an MR2" SEE WHAT HAPPENS. Its just very disrespecting of both marques, hence the aggression.

In all fairness if you want appreciation for this sort of thing, a replicakit forum would be the place but certainly not an MR2 ot Ferrari forum. This is not me saying to go away, just giving you a politer and calmer reason for the responses you see often on IMOC.
