When i borrow a friends garage i have access to ramps etc, but he's moving premises so i have to work at home outside at the moment so its back to axle stands for me. This is a real pain as i will need to do a full geo setupm need ramps for this really.

Hurstie, just get your hands dirty (or wear gloves) and learn. Start with something simple and you soon learn. Rocket science it is not.

The key reason why i do all my own work on my cars is simply because no garage will take the care you do when working on your own car.

I honestly couldn't do without the help from my dad and his garage. I can't quite grasp that some mad folks replace engines and gearboxes on their drives, laying on their backs :wink:

To be honest im getting better!
Couple of years ago fitted my k&n kit, which was the start. I dont mind getting my hands dirty, i just dont want to break things! Im currently refurbing my alloys, which is ok, but nothing mechanical. There is no haynes manual hence nothing to learn from. And i dont want to pay if i do a major willy up!

I have seen them in asda, think they are draper ones, same as halfrauds, and cheaper!!! They do a trolley jack for 14 quid too!!

It was an autopista style spoiler. Recently sold it on ebay.

I would love a conversion, but two problems!
Paid £900 for a full engine rebuild last april....and 2, Mines an AUTO (dont cringe)!

Its certainly possible but if your going to the trouble of changing the engine, i think it'd be well worth the effort of converting to manual, though its a PITA in the MR2 because of the hydraulic clutch and the associated pipework.

I can't really see the point of an auto tubby tbh, surely you would be better off selling up and buying a tubby? Unless there's some reason why you want to keep the auto?
