[Mk2 Turbo] Attempting to adjust the timing

Post by drlunch »

I attempted to check my timing this weekend with a view to ensuring it was set to 10 degrees.

The problem is that i can't find the actual mark on the crank pulley, i understand from various posts that there will be a small notch which i have to mark with chalk or tippex but i can't even see that to start with. I'm looking from the top of the car through the intercooler pipes. Can anybody advise me on how to find this notch to start with?

more importantly dont forget to link out Te1 and E1 in the diagnostic port or you will never set the timing correctly.
