Try a search. It was discussed not so long ago.

In brief:

Take the baileys BOV, place it with both hands into the box it came in, seal said box, return the now sealed box to the place it was purchased from, for a refund. Use refund and go by a better dump valve, like the HKS or Blitz.

And all boost leak/power loss problems will be avoided.

Seriously, try a search and you'll see that the baileys bov is a boost leaker.

This might sound daft, but how can you tell for sure its leaking boost? Or is that annoying pssssssst sound when feathering the throttle at high speed the boost escaping?

Yeah you can hear it venting at WOT.

I wasn't making full boost with it on. Changed it for a turbosmart one and got full boost back :D

Andi I'm not up on midel codes but many on hear have had similar experiences with the baileys. Maybe your model is ok or an exceptio or even a newer one with the problem worked out :-k

Gee Man, if your mates got a Bailey fitting kit then he needs to cut the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler and insert the metal T piece then run the vacuum hose from the dump valve to the small metal pipe on the left of the intake manifold (the one the OEM BOV uses). Alternatively he could buy my Blitz dump valve :D

No, feathering the throttle will cause the inlet manifold to be in and out of vacuum/ +ve pressure, so naturally the BOV will be somewhere between open & closed, most BOVs will do this unless they have stiff springs that only open with some more vacuum (e.g. the SSQV is adjustable), so feathering throttle is not a good test of the BOV. If you can hear it venting/squeaking at WOT then yes, it's leaking!
