Anyone recommend the best grade oil for a high mileage 4AGE?

any good quality 10/40 should do.how worn is worn if its smoking badly then it wont make much difference.you would have to put a really thick oil in to change that.i have heard mobil 1 is good in a smoky engine but not sure if this is true.

the thicker the better unless you want to continuously burn off the oil.

would suggest a 15-50/60 if you can get it. Millers do a 15-60 IIRC. This is a fully synth and is not at the high price of Mobil 1

Its got 127,000 miles on it, but doesnt smoke or rattle. Very crisp little engine.

Just wondered what everyone would recommend to help keep the motor goin on strong.

I've put castrol gtx magnatec (15W40) in mine for a couple of changes now - am I alright with that stuff?

Would say its ideal as a 15w-40 is thick enough to ensure you don't simply burn it all off. Reckon i will be using something similar in my NA when it finally (sigh) appears from the bodyshop!
