Never had one glance for a lady in my 2...ever...unless they're wearing a tracksuit and half of Elizabeth Jukes catalogue.

Blokes are a different story...they all, young and old stare. When they're behind in the car you can see them leaning forwards to try and see what make it is lol.

I didn't buy or do the car this way for attention though which p1$$e$ me off when people say that, I did it because I like it and it's my toy :)

I find I just get nearly every new car on the road trying to get in front of me - or indeed to prevent me passing even if they're doing 25% below the speed limit on a clear road, almost pure desperation at times.
Very odd.

I never get that, but my car looks angry as hell...They're afraid it might chew their paintwork so they leave me well alone.

All that is, except the rep...they all seem to resent the fact that they chose a career that involves them driving a barge every single day. I've been a rep...and it sucks. lol.

I get it al lot round here.

Kids - mostly.

..but a lot of blokes and ladies have a second glance, or badly try to hide a stare.

Thing is:

1. I'm a secondary school teacher, so next to a fiat panda, megane and three escorts etc., it has a small tendancy to stand out in the staff car park.

2. As many of you know, Anglesey isn't exactly a hotbed of performance cars, out of the Circuit!

3. Most modified cars around here are 1.0l micra's and corsa's etc.

4. Most of the cars from note 3. are worthy of 'BarryBoys'.

5. Granted, mine too may be worthy of 'BarryBoys', but, in the words of Jeremy Clarkson, ...'If you want to modify a car to be faster, start with a fast car in the first place.'

6. Even if the locals don't like the look of it, with a de-cat, Blitz bov and Blue Flame Exhaust, it certainly sounds different to a 1.3 escort with a blowing exhaust.

attention from other drivers

Post by Mike »

Yep, for some reason the young uns love MR2's. They always wave at me when I drive past.
A little while ago I spotted a Lamborghini Countach in a supermarket car park so naturally I parked a couple of spaces away from it and had a butchers, when I came back to my car having been in the shop there was a bloke with his two young sons gazing in awe at the Lambo, and as they turn to walk away one of his kids shouts out "look dad theres another one!" pointing at my car. lol

It does get some attention from women, usually on the motorway.
I was in the middle lane when a Golf TDi job overtook me, as he did, the woman in the passenger seat was just staring at my car, it looked like she was checking out my wheels so I popped my headlights up and she looked over to me and smiled. (Probably thought I was a nob!)

For some reason tho my old RS2000 used to get more female attention?Probably the chav factor!

In terms of acknowledgement from other MR2 drivers it doesnt happen often, one bloke stuck his hand out the top of his car to wave at me at about 80mph! And I usually try to make eye contact with other 2 drivers purely cos I know that they probably love their motor just as much as I love mine!

seriously tho - on the way back from the Driftworks @ Silverstone last year (in convoy with about 5 other MR2's) I was shouted at from teh middle lane of the M25 (i was in teh outside lane)..

young girl in an MGF - "nice car !"
me: "thanks  "

young girl "are you signle?!"
me "yes  "

young girl "pull over!" pointing to the slow lane -

so we pulled off at the next exit and exchanged numbers - and as God is my witness this happend - PETEJ is a witness to this - he nearly ran her off the road as he thought he was seeing a roadrage incident in full swing !

I dont know :-k
A Ferrari Testarossa and a little trip to Basildon' festival of leisure usually does the trick  Not the kind of females you'd want long term romance with but a bit of a trophy type lass to show off.

Just the other week we were going through Enfield Town at about 2am and at the end of the que outside the train station (que for a cab) was this young female who decided to show us the contents of her already revealing blouse! My mate decided to stop to give her the old "Now now fine lady, thow behaviour is not very wise in todays climate of rapists and weirdo's now is it" type speach.

Lets say she was offering more then a quick flash for a lift home!

And no we didn't oblige. We called her a seperate cab rather then let her wait in that que for the next hour potentially flashing a not so sincere passer by in the hope of a lift home.

Maybe you aren't that type Lauren but there are unfortunatly stupid bimbo's out there that are.

Should've kept her to one side. You know for "just in case"

Driving through a little village near me, so am only pootling along at <30mph, when I pass this woman and her young son on the pavement. The kid can't have been more than 5 years old, and as I drove past him with the top down and exhaust rumbling, he just turned and said:

"Wow!" :D

Something so simple, but it really made my day. Little guy can't have any idea about cars, but he knows what he likes. 8)

If I ever have kids, I want one just like that. Top marks, little dude!

I had this happen to me a year or so back as well. On my way back from a mates house, I had to drive through town before getting onto the main roads. A woman with a young kid was walking up towards an oncoming junction, and when I slowed down to negotiate it, they were a mere several yards away, and the kid tugged on his mums coat, pointed straight at my car and burst out with "wow - look at that car!!!!""..

...made my day/week/month... If only I had a camcorder at the time. ;)

A few other times spring to mind too - had a young lad who lives in the estate stop when he saw me out cleaning may car. He was a bit suprised when I popped the bonnet and he saw the spare wheel in there... ;)

He started asking about where the engine is (as I had the boot open as well ;) ) so I showed him around the car. Would have probably taken him out for a ride in the car - but decided it would be better not to, or talk to his parents first. ;) I'd probably get sued for "reckless endangerment" or something otherwise, knowing todays climate!

I do tend to get a lot of people looking now when I'm out washing the car - with a few comments when its all clean and shiny. I think I must be getting a bit known now.. ;)

You reminded me of something funny from a few yrs back. Its more like attention for Foreign police really......

I was waiting at Dieppe port to return to uk on ferry when police came over (do they ever smile?) and gestured to the rear of the car so that they could check the "boot". Now seeing as i was in a 911 (1978) you can picture the scene as I smiled (and with a cheeky grin to my misses) got out, and with straight face lifted the boot to show the lovely engine #-o :eye: 8-[ 8)
After a few tense seconds they smiled and we went to the front where they checked THOUGHLY lol

I tend to get a fair bit of attention, with pedestrians I mean.

I love it when you get guys who pretend not to look, like someone pointed out earlier. They wait until you've passed them and then they take a look, little do they know I have a rear view mirror! Sounds sad that I look to see if they are looking but I find it quite amusing!

I also love it when women walk passed the car and look for the Ferrari badge on the front

If anyone is daydreaming on the pavement, I'm always there with the SSQV to wake them up and show them where to look!

What a poser I am, aah shucks

I believe, though I could be wrong, that they are referring to the company MR2 of Ken Kinnersley, *beloved* chairman of the MR2DC...
