Dunno it was running fine, just started knocking at 2400rpm this morning on the way into work. Only happens in that part of the rev range. May be something loose but I checked everything I could on Tuesday night, no loose nuts/bolts.

I could pull the tyres off the engine lid rack at lunch and have a poke.

AR$E

Hmmm Mx5 :-k and he's just put a set of 539s on it.

If you want, find me in the carpark on Saturday and ask for a passenger ride. Lauren's also a good (bad ;) ) person to ask for some sideways laps.

In fact, I can remember doing some laps in the Roadster there that were so sideways I ended up laughing so much I had to slow down to wipe away the tears so I could see where I was going. O:)

You forgot the exit of Radar Ben and the Turn-in of School. ;)

Will have to see how up for gooning the Uberbarge is... will take it more if its wet though. ;)

Good stuff, will be good to see it out on track - will this be its first trackday?

As for corners - I've also been known to goon into Radar from Abbotts, and a little on the exit of Mountview, but its not a good place to do that.

As for School, personally I don't fancy trying to provoke / hold a side through School at 70-80mph with the Irish Sea waiting to catch you ;)

Blimey they're dropping like flies! Hope it's nothing serious Chris.

My car is still in the garage, sincerely hope I can pick it up later today...!

As for Passenger rides - as ever, you're welcome - just come and find me late on Saturday morning or afternoon if I'm loitering near the Roadster, bring your own lid.

I'll be in a grey jacket with Red/White stripes across it, and driving the Roadster on Saturday.

Hmm, BBC still is predicting Heavy Rain for Saturday and Sunday for Bangor and Holyhead. Perfect for gooning on with minimal tyre wear.

One last thought for the Mk2 Turbo owners - in very heavy rain, I've found at trackdays the car can miss on boost if the engine bay gets really wet.

If it does happen, come in to the pits, let your car cool off and bring some WD40 to spray over the HT bits and you should be OK again after 20 minutes or so.

I never had this problem on the road with my MK2, or on track with 'light' rain -only on days with very heavy rain and standing water..

Yes it will be its first trackday. I don't think its been anywhere near a track before. I'm not sure how much we'll take it out, will probably go out more if its wet. I sort of feel guilty just because its so mint, but i need to get a feel for the handling. So far it feels like it doesn't do understeer which will be a welcome change. It also has M-Technic suspension and the important M-Technic gearknob which lights up at night. ;)

It doesn't roll that much either, mind you the front anti-roll bar is massive. I think its going to be very well balanced on track.

Aaah, bring that along. If its wet, and you're using 539's, there will be next to no tyre wear

If you're around on Sunday I'll have to let you have a go behind the wheel of my MK1a and see what you think. I know you always said yours understeered - will be interesting to see what differences (if any) you pick up on ..

Ben my Dad wouldn't let me near it! Plus I'd have to drive with the roof off as I barely fit as it is. (swimming pool anyone)

Toni if it's the bearing as I suspect I may bring it to Anglesey just to push the little cow into the sea! I'm going to get my tyres fitted in half an hour and will get one of the more experienced guys to have a listen. [-o<

I do know where Vashy's Mk1 is being stored. :-k

Funny - as soon as you said you had problems, that was the first thing I thought of!

lol

(Vashy, are you ouuuuuttttt theerrreeeee?)

I'd give you the slug to play with, but you'd have to change the gearbox, clutch, etc etc, mot it before you could take it out. :(

Do a Clarkson - remember the Top Gear £10K supercar challenge and the Maserati he had which deposited bits of its engine all over the road

If you can keep it dry for 10 minutes, worth applying some generic rain-x type product to the windscreen, really helps :)

These are what I've got on - 205/50 - 15s - at least they are new so have good tread depth to cope with the wet
