Broke my baby - clutch related

Post by MarcMR2 »

hey folks seems the two and myself had a fall out last night resulting in me limping home with a slipping clutch.

heres the facts

- new clutch fitted in oct 05 by previous owner (have parts receipts but nothing stating who fitted it.)

- the last week the clutch has felt a bit funny with power delivery when changing gear lumpy.

- i noticed 2nite while parked upat falkirk cruise that the clutch was very spongy being able to move a good inch without resistance.

- can still drive the car but bites right at top of pedal and have to give it plenty revs to move- at speed there isn't so much a problem.

- problem became very apparent when crawling up a hill in slow traffic with a copper behind me!

any ideas??? - i can't believe the clutch is knackered because i don't ride it and never really do burn outs or donuts - maybe something like a clutch master cylinder perhaps?? i dono but need to give mr t a phone 2moz.

well cars booked in for this wednesday too get checked over by mr t. How would i go about checking the slave cylinder to see if its functioning correctly??

also i think fluid must have leaked somewhere since the container with clutch fluid has dropped by half since i checked it a few weeks ago and haven't spooted any apparent leaks on driveway or in front boot

goto MrClutch if they are anything like my local branch in swindon then they wont rip you off...

they local one all the worker are jao car owners, outside is a SKYKLINE its modded to feck and they all own specced up motors inc a 300bhp crx.

worth a try i would imagine MR-T will cost a arm and a leg,..

had a look and there doesn't seem to be any clutch centre chains in my area.

The clutch was only replaced 6months ago just before i bought it and it seems that it was a very cheap part fitted by cowboys - got a receipt for a copied part clutch for 50 quid which is too cheap for it to be any good - hey at least it will come with a guarantee
