le mans 2006.pics now on page 8

Post by hicks »

i want to organise a trip down to lemans for the 24 hour race which takes place on the 17th and 18th of june this year. the following link shows prices for various options but ill be looking at the open return package as i want to go over the the ring after wards for a few laps.

http://www.lemansrace.com/oncircuitprices.asp

£250 for 2 people including ferry, race tickets and camping seems pretty good.

people can just come to lemans or the ring or do both.

Hicks,

You are very welcome to meet us along the way. We will be traveling down from Durham on Monday 12th June and stopping over in a lodge in Maidstone. The next day we have an 08.00am ferry crossing from Dover - Calais.

If youre interested we are staying at the Chateau du Chanteloup, camping in the grounds. Its about 15 minutes from the circuit, has a bar, restaurant and even a swimming pool.

Cheers

Hicks,

www.seafrance.co.uk

they are charging about £70 for return crossings, 1 car and 2 passengers, book early as it goes up very steeply after March.

they chateau is about £10 per day and the le mans entry ticket is about £40 for a 5 day pass which you can buy at the circuit.

www.inkeeperslodge.co.uk the name of the lodge is the white rabbit in Maidstone in Kent where we will be staying on the Monday night. Theres going to be quite a few MR2's there.

Last year we had a convoy of 6 cars and the rest met us there. I think this year there will be around 12 MR2's with a mixture of MK1's and 2's.

Going to be great, apart from the actual race weekend itself theres loads to do. Mad Friday is the best where everyone decends onto the circuit its an amazing show of cars. On this day you get to hoof it around the track.

Have alook of the pictures I took of last year on the track, its my bird thats driving thats why it looks like she's not really moving, she's just as useless using a camers too..!!!!!!!!

Stu,

You need to email Dominique at the Chateau and book your camping spot. Tell them you are camping with the Toyota MR2 MK1 Club and we will all get together. We need someone to lend us an IMOC flag and banner to display at the Chateau.

Ferry £60 - £70
Petrol £100
Camping for week £80
Ticket £45
Tolls £40
Food and Beer really depends on yourself, theres a good camaradarie spirit over the week and everyone normally chips in, shares beers etc. It really is up to you what you prefere to do. Campsite has a restaurant but it gets chokka...!

Stu,

Ooohhh the ferry prices have really shot up over the last week. The best thing would be to get the ferry to Dunkurk and either start off for Le Mans or wait for us, have a kip and some breakfast in Dunkurk as its only 15 minutes from Calais.

Calais - Le Mans is around 320 miles and will take 4 - 5 hours.

Cheers
