£50-60 dependant on excess on your windscreen coverage ;)

advice is also - whilst it's out, sort any roof bodywork required.

If your fully comp, claim it on ur insurance, doesn't effect your NCB. It will effect the premium on some, lets say crafty, insurers.

I pondered weather to take the screen out of my old white one before I scrapped it. I decided it wasn't worth the hassle/time/effort just to save the £50~60 it'd cost on the insurance.
I did remove the rear one tho

yeh I did a little bit & thought is this really wroth it? It was a easy answer, shame as it was a nice screen, not a scratch or stone chip anywhere.

Nah, it's just his perpetual quest for random information.
He'll be on the Freelander Owners' forum later asking how much a spare wheel cover is.

www.heatedwindscreens.co.uk used to sell them for £66+vat (no they are not heated).

I have to do mine when I start this years "rejuvination" work on the SC.

Thats a brilliant website, I like the fact you can order your own glass and tools to do the job yourself!

Having gone back to buy one myself now I'm ready for it, the delivery charge is £45 so all in it's around ~£130 so if you can get it cheaper locally then great. Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and pay more than I wanted. (the car isn't insured atm as it's been off the road for over a year so that's not an option, besides I won't let autoglass monkeys near my car)

To the poster who said it cost £90 can you say where this was from thanks?

I am only looking for the screen, will be fitting it myself (after repairing roof rust).

cheers

Hi mate, my advice is to get your yellow pages and phone every number in there until you get a decent price. I had quotes rangeing from over £400 until I got one for £110 (including VAT) fitted. The variation in price is mainly down to the bonding, I got them to re-use my original bonding.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

When you say bonding, what's that exactly? I need to have a new screen fitted, and am looking at Autoglass because I want the reassurance of a large firm's backing in case or problems, plus i don't know any local specialist fitters. I've got the screen, just need a good fitter.

Is the bonding the original mastic between the screen and frame?

Cheers,

David
