Problems with Bailey dump valve

I know this is a very contreversial issue to have a Bailey dump valve on an MR2 but i have fitted one yesterday and its giving me a few problems and i wondered if anybody else was having the same problems. When the car is started and idle it sounds fine , like it did without a dump valve.
Then
As soon as you touch the accelerater the car boots fine and then dumps.
Then as its coming back down the engine seems to be being starved of something and starts to cut out and unless you actually touch the throttle again it just cuts out??

If it's a rev 1 or 2 car the dump valve will mess with the AFM, from what i can gather it dumps out all the air the AFM is supposed to be metering hence the car jerks a bit when you change gear. My HKS one did it on my old car, my new one has the stock recirculating valve and is much smoother.

If you must have a DV then go for the HKS SSQV

As the last 5 page thread tried to tell you - they're xxxx valves, no way around it.
One way or another it will have an adverse effect that will in some way p/ss you off no end.

Just out of interest, is it the DV26 that youve fitted or another model? The DV26 is supposed to only 'part dump' so it supposedly doesnt mess with the air/fuel too badly... Notice I said 'supposed to' before anyone wants to jump on me.

is it just the PSHHHT sound you are after ?..

if so, do what Skywalker has already advised on your other thread - keep the Recirc but replace the intake filter with something akin to an Apexi Induction kit.

it will be as noisy at a dump to atmos AND will solve your running probs..

i had the same problem on my rev2 turbo when it had a blitz one fitted pain in the ar$e

but i bought the turbo xs one off ebay and its really loud and doesn't make my car stall at all really impressed

Mine never stalled or ran lumpy or anything.
It was only that horrible area where it leaked that drove me up the wall.

It stalled when I first bought it cause the previous owner used to OE valve to vta. That doesnt close and could have caused alot of problems.

just wondering is it just the bailey dump valve everyone is against


as my engine is a rev2 turbo with turbo xs bov which doesn't stall the car and it seems to run fine with

because its got afm meter will this damage my engine in any way or will i be fine

My rev 2 ran fine with the blitz but it all seems to be a bit hit or miss when it comes to a dump valve on a rev 1 or 2

Sounds to me more likely fitted wrong to cause running problems.

But the design of the bailey d/v is such that it's annoying all the time and hampers a comfortable driving experience.

People who had bailey kits - did you block up both the oe valve and the hole in the unduction pipe ?

there's no need to block off teh stock recirc. just remove the vacuum line
