Had an awesome day :D Didn't quite know what to expect, but the track layout was great and really enjoyed it. Had quite a few sideways moments, one spin, and one brown-trouser moment where i was heading sideways towards a black mk2 (quigonjay?) that had spun in the fast right hander before the back straight - thinking NOOOO #-o I'm gonna hit another 2! lol
Had passengers in all day, with reactions ranging from quiet appreciation (Lee, AdamB) to WOOHOO! YEAH! OMG! F*** ME!
By far the most fun I've had in my 2.

Tom

Oh, and in case anyone noticed the Honda jacket I was wearing, that's because I ride Honda Motocross bikes, not some Type R wannabe POS.

You know what mate, I thought so too. When everyone was having the team briefing I saw the car, recognised the reg, and when I saw you thought the same....hmmmm did I sell that car to him. 18 months....god thats flown by!

Glad to see you treating the 2 how its meant to be treated  probably see you at many more to come too. :) Hopefully my Liner will be on the track then :D

Aaah, just back home now. Good meeting everyone there and putting a few more names to faces. Nice to see the MR2s made it though the day OK, although a lot of tyres were sacrificed to oversteer - there isn't a better way for them to go :)

I took a load of pics using Si Cook's Digital SLR but I couldn't download them into my laptop there for some reason :( so it may take a few days for me to get hold of a CD of the pics and post them up here ..

Tom - Good to chat to you at the end of the day - you looked to be enjoying yourself in your '2.

Jay - LOL! When I said your tyres would last a few more laps, I didn't mean laps of goonage ;) The pic of you with your hand through the remains of the tyre should be a good'un - I'll mail it on to you when I've got it (PM me your email address) but it looks like you got on well with your '2 on the circuit.

JJ - Hey, shame I didn't get a passenger ride in the end - hopefully next time - and you've got to Come to Anglesey, its a great circuit ..

Chris - I'm just pleased you weren't running those snowtyres on the track ;) - I've got some pics of your 2 in a drift with large flams coming out of that exhaust (BTW- what is it? Exit was the wrong side for a NUR ..?)

If you got the trackday bug there, I've got to say Anglesey is a nice step up towards a 'proper' circuit, but also with good run off, leaving you room to get things wrong without worrying about hitting tyre walls. If you thought Elvington was good, Anglesey is fantastic !

I've got loads of Video from Si's SC which includes clips of others - give me a few days to sort through it and I'll post some clips up.

Yeah, nice to meet you, and a very impressive car - loads of work done to it. Hope to see it at JAE this year :)

I was stood next to Lauren when the Lauch control was "tested"... I think the burns to the jeans from the flames should come out  but my ears are still ringing .. :? give it another couple of days and hopefully they'll stop ringing.

Hey Team !

Want to thank the bookatrack team ( lauren included  ) for a nicely controlled day... well organised and very fluid throughout the day. \:D/ God bless you all for freezing your toes off for us all - thinking about that poor girl sat in the grassy area along the back straight, no one around her to talk too and looking like she needed some deicer for her hands.

Nice meeting a few new faces... sorry I didn't managed to get everyone in the passenger seat ... but I tried [-o<

Findings - good laugh, hell of an adrenelin rush, especially when the car is on the edge on the rear and the front end hammering round the top end ... which seemed quite a popular position to loose it or run wide... noticed the cones progressively moved throughtout the day.

Them 200sx's are like barges into and out of a corner ! Body roll was comical !!

I for one was responsible for a couple of spins .. .I guess, being an airfield, I'd say i'm pushing the car alot faster into a corner where it can get hairy and catch you out.

Nice meeting benf (sc killer ), the usual track junkies andyf ( fire starter ! ), Andy F's son, steve cordiner( proton boy !), gtschris ( barbeque eer! ), dan ( liner with a thirst problem ), couple of newbies... sarah, john, and first time appearance quigonjay ( mad max! ) !! Boy you made me laugh jason... showed up real quiet, didn't say much... had the opportunity in the afternoon to gun the car and you were like a mad man behind the wheel !! Well done... like to see people push their cars ... couple of flat spins.... but thats what makes it interesting... you either slow down a little and take it smoother or press the loud pedal even more!!

Hedgehog dodger... you didn't manage to get a ride in mine :( Not to worry, I managed to catch a glimpse of you when you went into a flat spin in front of me in chris' car !! Good job I could see it going and honk on the brakes !! :clown:

Didn't meet tom in the black turbo ? I met a tom that owned an SC (Icsunonove)? Think I took a cone out with him in it !!

I'd like to hammer around anglesea... but I've got a few costly things that month and may not manage it.... + the car is in need of brake pads all round now and another full set of tires !! Damn that surface is abrasive !!

Hate to see what those tires look like on a hot day ! 8-[

Great day people !! O:)

Anymore MR2 shots ? :eye:

They'd be perfect in a kart, but in a car... its a bit big to throw about !! lol !! To counter understeer, one must slam its rear end out !! Overcooked it a few time !!!

Photo's just reminded me... I need to wash it ! and change the tyres and change the brake pads...

I'd say it used a good 50% of the new tyres that was on it doing that track day... and it used half the pads too... checked them last thursday ... so those going to anglesea... make sure you got some meat on those pads otherwise you'll be retiring early ... !

Reminds me... 245/45/16's Toyos are too wobbly on the rear... not really my cuppa tea ... much prefer the 17"'s 35 profile... sharper ! :D

Image

Steves little lotus handling proton was keeping up with the 200sx's through all the twisties to my surprise..... even reeled a couple in ! Just needed an LSD in it and perhaps a little lift off oversteer action... just understeered its way round the track... safe as houses !

You can't count!

My 2nd driver was quite good at being consistant in spinning it quite regular.... !! O:)

Nice meeting you tom... I'll see you about in the near future ! O:)

yeh sorry if i didnt say much, always a bit shy at first
was a top laugh, thanks for the tips :thumright:
felt like i could have gone a fair bit quicker though with a bit more turn in grip and less body roll but i always knew i could drive my car like that - just needed a chance to prove it

 hey tip... when the car has no oil temp gauges... people dont' know... but a couple of hard laps around the circuit and you'll see your oil temps rise to upto 140/ 150 degrees C !! ( superheated from the turbocharger! )

Hence why i was pulling off after a couple of hard laps and let it cool.. the stock oil cooler can't handle the continuous abuse.... recommend you look into an remote oil cooler if your going for the 3 hours endurance / non stop driving like you were ! . I know your engines fully built... but if the oils too hot ... then it looses its lubing properties... you might as well just have water going round in there ! Don't want your bottom end failing when your having all that fun !

Check your pads aren't metal on metal jay... mine are !!

Bump into you later in the year fellar ! !

was a top laugh, thanks for the tips

It was nothing... just trying to get you straight into it ... sometimes people have nerves going on when they first hit the track ... and they dont' see the corners !!

Don't forget to check a couple of nuts and bolts under that engine lid... there was a few things vibrating off throughout the day !!

yeh guess i need to look at getting some more gauges/oil cooling if i'm going to be doing more trackwork
what do you reckon was the cause of those spots of oil that i was getting on the rear bumper? cant remember what you said now #-o

You know your dipstick was kinda loose ! The other end of that dipstick tube is the block attachment.... its probably been weaping from there when it came unsecure.... throwing out oil and obviously the drag of the car making it stick to the rear bumper.

Lol ! it pays to look at your engine bay every so often to make sure things are right ... and you were kicking some good flames out of both pipes fellar !
