The air filter will be wherever the air enters the system prior to the turbo..

The AFM doesn't care about the air entering the system - all you really care about is the air entering the engine (so in reality it can do that by being placed anywhere in the intake. After the air filter, after the turbo, after the intercooler, just so long as it's before the throttle plate).

In fact, you can argue that you get a better reading of the real air (including post-turbo-heating density) entering the engine with the MAF post-turbo. Most of the current breed of Mk3 turbo kits are like this.

Nothing - just bear in mind that you'll need a standalone or mappable ECU capable of being mapped, since the airflow characteristics will be wildly different with the MAF post turbo compared to pre turbo. If you just move the MAF you'll likely get horrible detonation if you don't change the tune.

You're getting a better idea of the air volume entering the cylinder with the MAF post turbo. Another side effect is that if the MAF includes an air-temperature sensor (I don't know if the Mk2 does, the Mk3 certainly does) then you get accurate air temperature readings so the ECU can do proper air-temp fuelling & timing corrections.
