Going to see car tomorrow, need some advice.

Hi guys,

I am going to look at a 1994 (rev 3) Black GT-Turbo Tbar tomorrow, any pointers on what to look out for ?

Here are the details, what do you think. Good or Not ?

Imported it as a personal import through Newera about 3 years ago - At the time it had 27k miles on the clock, but now it's done about 58k. Serviced fully by Toyota on arrival, and it's been serviced to schedule by a local import specialist ever since.

It has a _big_ single exit exhaust & an HKS Super PowerFlow intake, so about 260 bhp, plus 16" alloys, clear front indicators, Scorpion thatcham 1 alarm and an English kenwood stereo - otherwise it's pretty much standard GT Turbo T-bar spec. None of that stuff affects my insurance incidentally. Mechanically it's perfect, not a single problem in 3 years.

Cosmetically the alloys could do with a polish, there's a small mark on the driver's seat (was there when got it, I just never got around to getting it fixed)

£4000-4250

What do you guys think ?

Sounds OK. Have a look at Bens' Buying Guide. It's very informative and I used it as reference when buying mine. Also unless you are mechanically minded then get an RAC or AA car check to be on the safe side. That should insure you don't get a car that breaks down 2 seconds after you buy it.

Sounds too good was my initial thought as well, but i am new to all this. He says its a 94L (Rev 3) i dont have any pictures here at work, but i will stick some up when i get in tonight.. Just out of interest how does the RAC/AA car check work, do they come along with you to view the car or something ?

you have to book a date and time with them before hand and then they come out and give it the once over and present you with a report at the end of it.

Sounds alright. I'd question the mileage though..... Look at the wear on the seats, steering wheel, gear know etc. Find out if it's had a belt change - and get proof....

Damn, that is an awesome price mate!!!

Make sure it is a rev 3 though and not a rev 2 in rev 3 guise!

Following on from a comment there about AA/RAC inspections, what are people's experiences of having checks done on MR2s (particularly turbos). Are the AA/RAC familiar with the cars and the problems that are likely to happen with them?
