Here's the definitive buying guide. Print it out and take it with you.

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/nick.chall ... mk1bg.html

Rear wheel arches and rear sills are the most prominent areas for rust. It will tell all in the guide.

Think you are looking at between £1.5-2K for a car in good condition. T-bars and those with leather tend go for a little more than cloth trim and sunroof models.

I could and probably will be proved wrong but as far as i know all mk1's .Finished in 1989!!

As Lauren has said the best guide for a mk1 is on the Challoner site!

The tbar is definately worth more than the sunroof but tin tops have there own lovers!!

Think there are the odd few that are registered in 1990 though i've never seen one.

1989 was the last year really. I would say though that because all MK1s are old I would focus on condition rather than if its a year younger.

Mine was registered in Feb 1990 so there's at least two. I'm sure it was built in 1989 though!

Yep thats my point. The difference between when it was built and when it was registered is normally 3-5 months ish.

Eg: My 86 was built in January and registered in May.
