Been insured on an MR2 turbo under the age of 21 and if so what company? If no-one then only 10 months to wait

I have just turned 21 so i don't know if i count but i have an NA which i have booked in for a turbo conversion. Got a quote on the tubby with no problems. I'm insured through Adrian Fux. they woud insure me when i was 20 but it was about half again on the quote i now have so i'm glad i waited. I have 3 years NCB by the way.

Yeah can get a quote for a n/a no probs, i'm 20 with 2 years ncb and have just got £3500 compensation for whiplash so instead of getting the n/a i thought i would get the turbo and spend my compensation on the extra insurance. Flux refused to quote me :?

Thats very strange. i wonder if it has to do with the fact mine is technically a "modification" to the NA.
The compnay i am covered with through adrian flux (as they are a broker) is NIG. may be worth ringing them direct perhaps

I was 21 and went through Adrian Flux for my tubby. I was just abot to turn 22 only 25 days after my policy started though. not sure if that matters.

Edit: Must add that was 2 years and a bit ago now.

5 years ago I was able to be insured on a N reg Supra TT jap import for £1400!! I would have only been 19/20.!!! Man, if only premiums didn't rise!

was insured my my first rev2 turbo (std except wheels)at 20 through a flux third party f & tfor around £1500. Every premium ive ever had though is around that mark from my first (cough cough) old shape mazda 323 1.3 through to the current fto.

insurance underwriters changed their rules last summer though, and it will will be nigh on impossible to get insurance if under 21 and still dificult if under 25.

Try Zenith and also www.confused.com. theve done me some decent quotes this year for potential new motors

I can get insured on the Supra TT but its £3707 (non turbo model is over £4000 for some strange reason) but no-one will insure me on an MR2, might just go N/A then change it in a years time. 8)

My first NA mr2 was insured by bell direct when I was 21. It cost about a grand then....but that was ahem...7 years ago! ;) (showing my age!)

I'm not sure if Bell Direct are still going?

Car infront of me done a U-turn and i went into them, they were uninsured and in a stolen car, of course i'm gonna claim for whiplash. That was 14 months ago and i'm just getting the money now. The owner of the cars insurance are paying and i still kept my no-claims. Claim only adds about £50 to my insurance
