sorry should of said, ive found a 91 black tbar turbo with about 50k on the clock, the bloke who is selling it is about 40 ish (so hopefully not been thrashed when cold etc) and want in the region of 3k for it. Looks lovelly and in good condition, its got volk racing 17" wheels and a twin 3" exhaust, engine is standard so is interior etc. Well worth the money ive just got to pursuaed myself to sell the FTO. :D

Ok mate, you are at a budget which requires even more common sense than spending big money, as you know most mr2s polish up very nice but take a look behind the scenes to see if its history and unmolested engine is genuine, 1991 with 40k on the clock hhhhmmmm! is he an importer or has he acquired the vehicle from and importer recently, how many years has it been in the uk, if its more than 3 its very unlikely to be realistic mileage! Pull back the boot liner and take a look at the ecu and wiring to see if any has been cut at any point, and even that the ecu is 3sgte stock model, do a compression test, check out the suspension, and take it for some good boosting to see if its boosting hard all the way to 5.5k, does the needle hit the plus mark and hold, has it been de-restricted if so it has been raced! Good luck old boy!

The bloke has had it for 3.5 years and has it serviced every 3k, plus its just had its cambelt done as well. Its had one owner before him in the uk and i think its been over here for 5 years ish. Will have a look at the ecu and bits like that, but the milage is 82k but that was the km reading also, as the previous owner had it imported privately. Not sure about doing a compression test but will try, and are there any signs to say the turbos are on there way, like putting it in 5th at 30mph and flooring it ? cheers guys :D
