MK1 Speakers - sizes and reccomendations

Post by MegatronUK »

I know the speaker sizes are 4" and 3.5", front and rear respectively... however I am trying to figure out what the maximum mounting depth is for the rear speakers.

Probably going to go for Infinity Kappa 42.* up front, but do we need to be looking for a particular mounting depth for the rears?

MK1 speaker reccomendations

Post by MegatronUK »

Scratch that... just been 'play shopping' on caraudiosecurity.com and Ebay and came up with the following package:

Existing head unit and changer....
Head unit: Pioneer MEHP-9200 MD/CD Tuner
Changer: CDXP1230S

Front Speakers: 10cm Infinity Kappa 42i
Rear Speakers: 8cm Infinity Reference 3002cf
Sub: Alpine SWD-1600 under-seat active sub

I've heard the Alpine sub mentioned a few times, and I've got Reference speakers in the Supra, but haven't come across these versions before. Any good?

John, I've got a couple of the Alpine 1600 active subs in my car (SLK). I think they are excellant, even with the roof down. Nice bass without letting the whole world hear it and it gives you a decent massage too. Never used the Infinitys but heard good reports. Sorry, not much help really.
