Clutch mod...

Post by Rixx »

Ok., ive just blown my gearbox and am going to replace my clutch at the same time. Problem is, ive never changed the clutch on my rev1 tubby before, so dont have a clue on which clutch is best (without spending too much as the gearbox is killin me!)..

What are your views on the best clutch with a budget of upto £150? (£100 preferably lol)

Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me 8)

I bought a SPEC Stage 2 clutch from http://www.funkyproduct.co.uk. It's not listed on their website but they can order one for you, took less than 2 weeks to arrive. The guys on the US boards seem to rate them very highly http://www.specclutch.com/specMain.html The stage 2 is a bit of a off/on affair i.e you can't really ride the car on the clutch. If you don't intend modding your car to put out big power then i'd stick with the Stage 1.

If you don't intend upping the power of your car much the Stage 1 would be a better bet in my opinion, especially if you do a lot of town driving.

Serious question - Why, as I was going to get a quote from them...

I was talking to Mr Skywalker last year at Santa Pod just after he had his clutch done. I think Mr Clutch increased their qutoe when he turned up to have the work done. I think they also messed around with his electronice boost controller and turned it up to about 20psi or something. Ive never heard anything but complaints about mr clutch.
