Oldest MR2.....

Post by Scotster »

Owner???

Hey, bit of a cheeky question here i know but i was wondering if there were any limits to the age you will own an MR2 at. Right now i feel as if i could have the car forever, car depending, but then i think of my dad and the sort of cars he would have (MR2 would be wayyyyyyyy down the list). He doesn't exactly disapprove of the car but he just laughed and sniggered as if to say "typical boy" when i told him what i was getting.

So what age are you guys?? I'm not the youngest and i'm pretty sure i will be nowhere near the oldest but i was wondering if there is going to be a cut off point where very few are above 40 or something like that. The good thing about asking this question in here are that most of you are guys and don't really give a xxxx about telling their age wheras girlies sometimes see it as "rude" lol

Cheers

Almost forgot, i'm 25 by the way. Just realised too that if enough of you guys answer we will be able to get an approx average age for MR2 ownership. If you really fancy getting some statistics you could post your age and model. No need to go for GT GTS etc but Mk1, MK1 SC, MK2 120 N/A, MK2 170 N/A MK2 Tubby and MK3 would give us some interesting reading, again if enough people take part.

Hi Scotster,

You've got a long way to go yet :D

I'm 54, just bought a Mk1 'cos I always wanted one years ago but couldn't afford it at the time. We also had a Mk2 from 93-96 which we had from new. You're never too old until you can't get into the car....

Brian

ps - and at our age the insurance is £150 f/comp with directline, so there's even more encouragement to keep driving 'em....

Fred and Doris who both own MK1s are well into their 60s.. i don't want to guess their age because, well that wouldn't be fair.

I have met plenty of retirees when i was a drivers club member that owned MK2s.

This is great, theres hope for me yet. To be honest i had hoped as much. My Papa (grandfather) is 79ish and he has an Audi Coupe. His previous cars, over the last 5 years, have included 205 GTi, Cosworth, Audi Quattro and obviously his trusty Audi Coupe which he has had for around the past 11 years.

He absolutely LOVES my car and he was looking at them in a magazine. Think the old dodger was thinking of getting one along with me. Might have some trouble with insurance though, specially when he hits the magic 80 marker.

Maybe i take after him :-k

Owned it for just over 3 years and luckily managed to buy the car and pay the loan off just before we started a family.
