FCD very quick question..

Post by Spittinflames »

I got an fcd with 3 wires coming from it black grey and red... but which wire do i need to cut on the ecu? I've had a quick search but there's people saying all sorts of colours.

So which is it? Is it the middle block on the ecu? Blue with black stripe is one i've been suggested.

Rev2 tubby.

Please help before it go's dark

cheers

Basically you cut the blue/black wire and re-connect it using the two from the fcd.
Then it forms a kinda switch if that makes sense.

From http://toymr2.tripod.com/fcd.html :
Red with Blue is the +5vdc from the ECU (terminal "VC"). Brown is the circuit ground ( terminal "E2"). Blue is the reduced voltage signal used to power the OEM boost gauge and initiate fuel cut. (terminal "PIM").
Snip the Blue wire (PIM) allowing enough length to make a splice at each end. Connect the Black Box red wire(T1) to the Blue (PIM) wire coming from the sensor plug. Connect the BlackBox white wire(T2) to the Blue(PIM) wire leading to the ECU. Strip about 1/2" of insulation of off the Brown(E2)wire (do not snip!) Connect the BlackBox black wire(T3) to the Brown(E2) wire.

Cheers for all the help guy's... All done and dusted. Working sound as a pound.

No more annoying fuel cut.

Just one more question while i have you all here, Boostin strong at 1.2 bar... is this ok or to much? It pulls like a little belter now though--- i like it lot. But if its unsafe i will turn it down a bit.

Gotta watch the back end.... Kicks out like a mofo :P

1.2 on a rev 2?
What supporting mods do you have?
If none a standard rev2 shouldnt go above 15 psi which is a tad over 1 bar.

Is that right??

Isnt that a bit much?

Ok just read matt's reply after i posted this...... Best go turn it down a bit :?

yes, with nothing cooling the engine down, that is a bad idea....
15psi, then if you get a cc or ic, 16psi is ok....altho theres prob not much difference between 15 and 16psi on a ct26 in all fairness...

Cheers Jim....

I'll knock it down to around 1 bar.... which is what it was running without the fcd.

At least i wont hit fuel cut anymore.

Oh well 17psi was fun while it lasted.. I rather like my car though, so best not blow it up just yet \:D/

It prob wont feel any different. The air charge temp will prob drop so make up for it.
Fuel cut should come in before 1 bar though.

Fuel cut BEFORE 1 bar  are you sure?

What was the point of me fitting the fcd if i need to set it at before 1 bar. It ran that without the fcd :? im confused

Oh and belive me when that boost gauge flicked over to 1.2bar it felt a heck of a lot quicker..... I don't want people arguing with me saying that its impossible for it to be quicker because of the higher temp's or your blah blah etc.... i just tell it as it is.... Dont gain anything from BS :silent:

Yes the torque increase will make it feel quicker, but the knock sensor will spoil your fun very quickly if you tried repeated runs.
