Re: Embarsessd by a crx
If you really want a great engine i'd take the k20a from the new civic type R

Re: Embarsessd by a crx

Did the scoob stall? It certainly didn't take off like a scoob.

I don't care how much power a car has, no FWD car will pull a 4WD rally carr off the line.

A crap start anyway.
.
.
that civic was rapid tho, dont think the scoob had a chance.

Oh yeah the thing was flying, no doubt it would a wooped the scoob anyway but theres no way a scoob would take off like that, even with a dodgy start.

Scott=oP

was a poor start put that civic does have huge slicks on the front.

Re: Embarsessd by a crx
The civic does near enough no wheelspin btw with them slicks.
.
.
so fwd rwd 4wd wont matter anymore would it.
.
.

He actually beat every scoob that joined at the dutch japanese tuning day stuff last year.
.
.

Only problem is that the engine is dead now.
.
.
he says he's be back with some resleeved b16 going for 700bhp or something close.

Re: Embarsessd by a crx
I owned a CRX before my MR2, haven driven both i can say that the mr2 has better handeling and braking.
around the town the crx wins hands down.

on the open road the mr2 whips ar$e.
(both standard)

200bhp can be achieved with somewhat inexpensive mods to the rex making it a popular car for modders
(like us
)

Thumbs up too the rex.

TOm.

Doesn't matter what kind of tyres you have on your car its the skill of the driver that prevents spin

I could almost floor my evo and slip the clutch and it would take off with road tyres.

Scott

Re: Embarsessd by a crx
look at it this way, assuming both cars
*could* provoke wheelspin from say 0-40mph
(1st gear) then the tyres on the Civic would need to have more than twice the co-efficient of friction to accellerate at the same rate since the scooby could deliver more than twice the power to the road, and furthermore the rear tyres load up under weight.

0-40 don't bet against the 4wd!

Re: Embarsessd by a crx
agreed, the scooby seriously blew the start, but the civic looks like it would beat it over the 1/4 anyway.
Surprised it got such a good start though, guess that's the strength of racing tyres.

I definitely thing the civic would have romped to victory.

The CRX's start was absolutely top notch.

Scott

PS i still think he stalled lol
Re: Embarsessd by a crx
COuld be i dont know.

its not that i'm defending the civic.

He did a 11.2 on the 1/4 by the way.

Re: Embarsessd by a crx
FYI:

Scooby Turbo 2000 model
PPP ECU
Twin dump Downpipe
Cat removal
Magnex Backbox
Lightweight Flywheel, race clutch
lightweight cam pulleys, crank and alternator pulleys

0-60 4.48, 1/4 in 12.8, 165mph indicated

More mods possible: equal length manifold, up pipes give further power increase IRO 15bhp, but also spool to turbo up faster and more stable because the standard scooby manifold is different length so the pulse to the turbo goes irregularly and it makes that wierd sound.

Anyway, I digress, just some figures for a scooby I used to own and my mate now owns to compare with.

It has not been dyno-d but we estimate 280bhp at crank.
