Moved to electrical, you'll get a better response there.

You can purchase a dedicated "split charger", have a look at the following link, scroll 3/4 way down:

Yep split charge relay is the way to go!

I have two batteries on mine and for the money it is a great mod, you can pick them up for about 15 quid as well!

Connect earth to earth, and positive to SCR then to other positive, then connect the relay switch cable to ACC. and earth the relay, that simple!

I'd leave your alarm on your normal battery then have all stereo on your second. This way you can have your stereo on without your engine running (great for washing car) and no worry about car not starting.

If your main battery ever does die you can then "jump" from your secondary Which will be sitting next to it in the bonnet using jump leads.

Or you could be clever can put a switch in so that you can also switch the relay on manually and connect the two without ignition, then jump, but make sure your relay and wires can support the ampage of the starter motor!

and dont leave connected permanently or they will discharge each other!

only thing with the mr2 is limited space personally I would get an expensive battery that would be the equivalent to 2 normal batteries.
