GTS,GT Turbo or beams?

Post by MikeM »

Hi all,

Thinking about getting rid of the NA T-Bar MkII for a turbo. Found this one not too far away but is it just me or is this one a bit pricey. It does look good though and it's bog standard. Can't help thinking I should hold out for the GT-Turbo cos I did like driving with the roof off last summer but it's not often that happens. I've seen a 1997 Beams for sale at NVI.uk as well and that's quite tempting. [url]http://www.mackaytrading.co.uk/fullvehi ... =&RSpage=4

Any thoughts, suggestions would be a appreciated, Hope the link works.

does look a nice car but £7,500 for an 1994 rev3  thats silly money. Rev3's really are not worth that much more than rev2's, and you can find rev2's about for the £4000 region.

After all rev2 to rev 3 only real change is the engine, by rev2 stage suspension and brakes had already been sorted. Not worth the price jump in my opinion.

You make the fact that the engine is the only difference sound like a small thing! :? If you were aiming for anything more than about 280bhp then you would soon see where that extra cash had gone

Beams all the way!! lol

It depends what you want though, I think the Beams engine is fantastic, although I own a Turbo - which is also a good engine... depends if you want N/A or forced induction!

I think it tends to happen up here, limited choice of cars and inflated prices. :(

My last car was a civic type R so I do like high revving NA engines but I've never owned a turbo anything and I quite fancy the performance. The beams MR2 is a 97 and they want £8000 for it.
The 168Bhp Mr2 is a bit slow for me, and it really fustrates me when a TDI audi or VW can make life awkward when overtaking, they all seem to like putting the boot down when I'm out overtaking.

Nice car Allan, are those Uk wings or retro fitted UK side repeaters? or did they stop putting the toblerone style repeaters on after 94 in Japan?

Anyway before I do anything I need to decide whether I want to advertise the car or take the quick easy option and just trade it in.

only real difference is the 280 - 310bhp region, if you want more from either you need the same mods then they are level again more or less.

Cheers for the comment, I like the two tone reminds me slightly of an NSX, looking at the front anyway. If I seen the turbo version in the same colour for sale i would jump at the chance. Maybe I should convert it  Then i'll have insurance hassle no doubt :?

Yeah that's Bry's one isn't it,
Jealous as f@#k when I seen that one on an earlier post. The red seats look great against the silver and the wheels set it all off.
I want one.

Yeah, going to see it at the weekend, found another in Glasgow, 98 GT Turbo, I'm waiting for them to tell me the miles and type of speedo conversion done on it.

Not sure what's going on with the black all round the bottom of the car though.

that's a nice looking turbo there, very low cost too for a rev5? would that be?

Something odd about that black band though, as you have said mike it should be the same colour as the bodywork

have a look at BenF's guide to the turbo models

Don't believe thats a genuine car for a minute £7000 for a 98 turbo, tidy 95 cars go for that much. And the black bottom, should be colour coded for that age.
