Front Component Recommendations Please [MK2 Rev3]

hi im looking for some front comps for my rev3 (hopefully buy some cheap on ebay) i get the impression the kenwood kdc's are a bit poop, but dont really wana go all the way with focals or pheonix golds etc
i wont be installing a sub and at most the only other mod would be rear comps eventually.

can anyone recommend a brand or model that gives high quality sound at a decent price?

cheers

I have a pair of Focal 165's in the front of mine, sound awesome with a decent HU. No need for a sub, a very good quality sound. I paid about £140 including postage a year ago, should be able to pick them up a little cheaper now.

My headunit puts out 45 w is this enough to run some front comps? (sound quality is the goal, not volume etc)

Yes thats more than enough.
If you have the "active" set up though you may want to by pass the built in toyota amps, as sometimes you get a small amount of distortion.
It didnt bother me though on my rev 2, although now on my rev 3 i had the crapy set up, "passive". so it was easy to do.

Infinity 605s.

Don't think they are current, but there must be a replacement. Needed a bit of MDF to make them fit: they are quite large, but it's a nice replacement for main speakers plus tweeters.

Keep the recommendations comming, i need some new ones!

Trying to decide if the infinity are worth it over the alpine. Will be running a 10" sub behind the passenger so that's bass taken care of.

Also, as i've bass taken care of, perhaps a 5" component up front would give a richer midrange?

Comments would be welcome.

just wondering which speakers you went with?

Oh and did they fit into the standard mounts or was some work needed?

Did the tweeters go in to the stock holders ok?

Im still deciding which to get for mine and dont want to spend a packet getting focals.

Ended up with the infinity 6510cs reference from halfords (only 99, cheaper than everywhere else!)

Not fitted them yet as they do need spacers (which i now have - just waiting for them to go in)
