[Mk3 ] Blue Mk3 Abandoned????

Post by Scott Barton »

In my works car park in Tadworth, Surrey. Import version with the 'Midship Runabout' badge on the front.
Its unlocked, out of date Tax disc (August 2005) and looks like it has not moved in sometime.
Reg V*** DBX

Works security have brought it to my attention as it has no company ID badge in the window so they cant check it against the personnel list.
Anyone?

As it's not immobilised I'd get in touch with your local constabulary.
There could be more to it than meets the eye - you never know.

The police were called today but it is not known to them.
Its all very strange if you ask me. Expensive Sony faceoff CD player still in situ. Loads of CD's everywhere, but left totally unlocked?? And parked in a car park that is furthest away from the offices (a carpark that never gets used) Its either someone very trusting or very careless.

Have been told that if nobody claims it within the week or so it's going to get towed away by the council as it is on private property and also has no Tax. Its been there for nearly two weeks we think.

Scott,

Could someone have parked it there whilst they were travelling away?

Leaving the car open, with CDs and stereo on display - you must work in a nice area :)

Ben.

Probably a perfectly simple reason for it but it has got us all stumped. All cars are registered to an employee and they are issued with a sticker that must be displayed on the windscreen at all times. There is an entrance barrier as well but over the last couple of weeks it has been out of action so anybody could gain access. Usually its a swipe access.
There is an expensive Sony face off CD player still in the car, loads of CD's in the glove box but nothing to tell us who the car belongs to. Did an RAC check on it and the last change of owner was this year. It has been there at least 7-10 days without moving, the brake discs are all rusty and it is totally unlocked!
Was told this afternoon that if nobody claims it by the end of the week then the council are going to get called to tow it off site.

Oh and i forgot, the bit of glass that sits behind the seats, some kind of wind deflector when the soft top is down i think..it has the MR2 ROC club logo on it. I have posted on the MR2 ROC forum as well.

I just hope the owner can be tracked down before his pride and joy gets claimed by the local council boys!

If you write to the DVLA you might be able to claim it yourself..... if its been abandoned!

Have you called the police about it? maybe it has been stolen?

Owner found.

Apparantly it needs a new gear box, thats why it has been sitting in the car park. Got an email this morning from the employee here at work.
Beggars belief that it has been unlocked all this time and nobody has touched it!
