I know less than nothing when it comes to stuff like this. If you were to publish the ignition map what could be feasibly possible, and for what sort of money?

Mike

Not sure what you mean. I would publish the ignition mapping and the fuel mapping for free. I've already done this for the mk1a MR2.

Jeremy, I didn't mean to infer that you would charge for doing this, but rather how can this information be used to tune the engine and what is needed to do it, i.e. costs. Like i said though, I don't know anything about this sort of stuff so first off I'll get reading your articles :D

The info might be useful to someone who was fitting a unichip to the car as it gives the tuner an idea of what the ECU does as standard.

Or it could be useful to someone who wanted to create a base map for a standalone ECU. i.e. the mapping could be copied into the aftermarket ECU as a starting point before tuning.

There may be extra hidden maps in the 20V ECU to unlock more performance. If so they could be unlocked by a simple mod inside the ECU to alter a logic level. (could be as simple as fitting a link wire...)

I would dump out the ROM from the 20V ECU and publish the maps but that is about it. I don't have any plans to make the 20V ECU reprogrammable because they are too rare and it would not be worthwhile. A shame I know, but I have to be realistic.

I've recently fully cracked the huge micro chip used in the JDM 3SGTE tubby ECU so I'm getting to grips with all the mapping in this complex ECU at present.
I'm also trying to design a reprog replacement board for the mk2 turbo micro. There should be much more interest in the mk2 ECU compared to the 4A-GE 20V both here and in the US.

I'm having to consider the awful prospect of actually buying a mk2 MR2 (for research purposes only!)
