I'm looking for some reccomendations for specalist insurers, for a potential project I'm thinking of.
For those with extensively modified Mk2 Turbos - who are you insured with, now Dorset have become less mod-friendly...?

Ben,
I have just renewed mine with elephant.co.uk.
94 turbo, fully comp full no claims £513.45. Did it all on line & declared my filter, wheels & lowered suspension. There is a great big list on different mods, you just check the box & it will adjust your premium.

adrian flux will insure anything at a price, best bet mate is grab a jap mag and ring and ask them, ask if they take mods first so not to waste time.
try performance direct, no number sadly but google should bring it up. raymond pang managed to insure his "mildly modded" 400+ bhp monster with them so take it there pretty much ok with mods.
anyway tell us about this little project

Damm your old, wasn't he a few hundred years old or something?
Re: Specialist Insurers
the ONLY company that would even quote my turbo converted car was Adrian Flux.
Dorset who were covering me cancelled my policy when i told them the car was in the garage having an engine swap
Unless a special deal can be done with a company allowing ANY mods then Flux it is who arn't cheap...

Re: Specialist Insurers
just renewed with Adrian Flux 0800 0370221
interestingly elephant don't do imports via the web and now say they will NOT insure modified cars, at least not with boost controllers and chargecoolers. Neither do norwich??? direct nor prestige.
Weird cause loads of people on here use them

Yes if you go on to the web site it does say it wont insure imports but on the list box it has turbo import listed. I went through all the motions ticked the boxs for each mod. Three days later paper work comes through stating model: mr2 Turbo (import) as well as a list of declared mods.
Now regarding what mods they will allow you, I dont know about boost controllers & charge coolers but I put down filter, lowering springs (will be doing some time shortly) & wheels.

good old web interfaces I spoke to them on the phone and they said no way for boost increase or chargecoolers though to be fair I don't think they know what a chargecooler is. Either way the boost increase was out so why bother on a turbo car
