Charcoal Cannister Thing On Tubbies?

Post by matt_mr2t »

I have a rev 2 tubby and appears this has been removed. What is it and do I need it?
The two pipes that run from the inlet have been blocked off. Also there are two pipes from the dizzy cap that have nothing going to them?

The charcoal canister is part of the emission control system; it helps lowering the release of hydrocarbons into the air. Removal of the charcoal canister may cause the car to fail emissions tests, although I think the effect is not that great; you may also be just fine without it. AFAIK no power is gained by removing it, but it cleans up the engine bay.

They are only used on 6 cylinder engines
J/K, it's just ventilation I think; the two vent. holes point downward (so as not to catch any water coming through the engine bay); same on my dizzy cap.
