Its at £2750 with 4 hours to go. If you know anything about E bay you know nothing happens till the last 10 minutes. Stick it in your e bay and see what it goes for.

By comparison, 18 months ago I imported my car. A 1992 rev 2, 50k miles, full body kit, alloys, Tein adjustables, HKS superdrager exhaust, blitz decat, electronic boost controller, various gauges, factory option recaro trim, uprated clutch and a uprated ECU - cost me 3,000-3,300. I'm not trying to insult you with my value, I'm just trying to explain that to me I would value it at 3k[/quote]

How much did it cost you to import it and get it road worthy in the UK

I don't have a problem, and I even posted the following earlier in the thread...

"Well, for a 3 grand investment, you are going to have a fabulous car when it's finished.

I'd just enjoy it, and put valuations to the back of your mind. It's worth £6K in fun!

And if you ever come to sell it, then hit the enthusiasts who will appreciate the car, rather than come round your house in burberry caps saying "not bothered about mechanics mate, you got a bass tube in there or wot..?" "

Situation is though, is that early Turbo's are going for peanuts on ebay and peanuts in the trader. However much people argue the point on here, the fact of the matter is that they have dumped in price, muppets are buying them and pushing the value and perception of the cars into the ground.

I'd value my own car at 8K, I'd never get it. People need to accept that their pride and joy's just not worth that much anymore.....

Sorry, it's just the way it came accross! In my book, calling someone dillusional is a bit off!

the thing is, it's not really my pride and joy...it's just a bit of fun/track car......I just wondered what it's worth....

I still reckon I could get 3.5-4k for it! :)

Well, apologies if you took offence.

It annoys me too, the fact that the motor I have loved and built up over the last 3 years has depreciated even with the addition of thousands of pounds worth of parts.

Just the way it is I guess.

I was much more content back in the old days where it was nigh on impossible to pick up decent turbo's, and the ownership seemed more "professional......"

I think the avereage ones will go cheap, but the better ones that have obviously been looked after will still receive good money. I cant see myself ever selling mine, just keep making it better each year :D

I really do want to keep my mr2...but anyone that knows me, knows that I've had errmm...5 cars in the last 6 months!! lol.....I'm addicted to buying and selling :)

I suppose that it will fall to bits at some point anyway, the body is 15 years old afterall :) the thing that still amazes me is that there isnt a spot of rust on this car anywhere...I cant ever remember seeing a mkII with rust on come to think of it!!

Im sure the laws in New Zeland have changed like over here, but there ones are you can't import anything below a 1997 car.

A mate of mine over there has just imported 5 Skyline GT-R's just as the laws have changed, so he's stuck with 5 top end cars he can't shift! He's had to break them for parts instead.

Indeed Juic'in is right.....about 2 years ago the laws changed & with the new frontal impaect rules most cars have to be 1996 or higher :( 4wd's etc. are ok to be early 90's but virtually all cars work out to be 1996. In saying that from the change in late 1993 with the Gen III MR2 structually there is NO difference right up to 1999 with the MR2's, people here have TRIED to get around it but even giving proof that they are the same chassis etc. doesn't work :(

A dealer in Auckland recently aquired a nice 1996 GT with a full kit, rims & lowered etc......even looked to have some type of cage in it!! There would probably be less than 10 MR2's in NZ between 1995 & 1999 and I know a least 5 of them!!

Rev1 - £6000??

Seems a bit too much to me! Be it a replica of a rare car or not....

Oh shaf....you know a rev 1 is only worth 3k no matter what mods/kit it has!!......lol....unless it has 500bhp!! then it's worth £3001......tut tut!! :D:D

you get what you pay for my friend. im sure it would of cost me a lot more money if i had bought a run down rev1 and done the work myself.

bog standard, very low mileage rev1 t-bar turbo 2.5k
bodykit 2k
fitting and painting 2-3k
wheels £700
exhaust, dump valve, springs £500

i know i could of bought a rev3 for the money or something else, but you show me a car that looks as nice as the widebody for 6k

Yes but shaf, the big question is "what is it worth" ?? At the end of the day, if you're going to mod the **ck out of a car and try and sell it to make your money back, it will very very rarely work out.

The market has dropped on all older coupes (sp?-michael) now, but there is almost always a bottom line. Once a car hits that, it pretty much doesn't drop anymore (within reason).

Paul: stick your motor up at 4 grand if its as good as you say it is. if no one buys, drop the price.

Why sell though. I've been driving for just under 4 years and have owned over 10 cars, 3 or which were MR2'2. Biggest regret i have is selling my last Rev 3 Tubby. Hence why my FTO is for sale. Bring back the '2 (or maybe supra)

If you dotry to sell, good luck mate

I've owned most cars that I've wanted to and the mr2 is one of the ones that gives the biggest grin factor!!
