TOC trackday & 1/4mile 30th April

Post by Lauren »

TOC (Toyota Owners Club have kindly invited IMOC to their TOC trackattack. I know a number of us has mucho fun out at brunty this year. Next years event looks to be even better with the incorporation of a 1/4mile event for those of you that prefer going in straight lines rather than round corners. ;)

Ever wished you could take your Toyota on-track without all the usual worries of a serious prang or the hassle of hefty charges?

Well, TOC has just the ticket. We would like to offer you a fantastic circuit experience at one of the UK’s safest venues; Bruntingthorpe Proving Grounds in Leicestershire. Best of all, your wallet won’t be sending out the yellow flags as the package has been designed to keep costs to a minimum.

For those who don’t know, Bruntingthorpe is an ex-US airfield, since 1972 it's been specially developed as a high-speed test track for everything from Lamborghini’s to Bentley’s, motorbikes to trucks and everything in-between.

With over 250 acres of hard standing surface, Brunters offers a massive 60 metre wide two-mile straight – meaning it’s ideal for beginners with plenty of run-off area and less chance to smash your pride and joy.

Better still, fully trained instructors will be on hand to coach you through the turns and give you a few valuable pointers. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own helmet to bring along; they can also be provided together with professional marshals and a full compliment of safety staff, passenger rides and second drivers can come along for free which means we really have got it all covered.

The TOC TRACK ATTACK will hit the strip on 30th April 2006, the cost is only £99 for the full day, with a £5 charge per car for spectators. In addition to 2006 Track Attack shall also host all day quarter mile runs for only £15 for as many runs as you like. There’s room for just 65 cars on the track, so make sure you book your slot as soon as possible, keep your eyes peeled on the forums for an update very soon.

Its open pitlane format.

noise limit is 98db

This is very tempting, but as a complete track day newbie this seems a bit of a large gathering to loose my track virginity :?

Hmmm decisions, decisions :-k

Mate its a nice big open track with some tight corners and a long straight. Lots of run-off and no barriers after to slam into. Also if its open pit then you can come on/off when ever you want. Perfect day to push the car as far as you feel comfortable.

Also will be loads of people who can offer advice on your car it being a toyota track day and all.

You know it makes sence! \:D/

The price is very very good, if it is an open pit lane then i can't think of a reason not to go :D

Don't worry mate - I'm in exactly the same boat as you, and really fancy going. According to the TOC site: "...fully trained instructors will be on hand to coach you through the turns and give you a few valuable pointers. " and I'm sure there'll be some IMOC trackday veterans who will be prepared to help out.

My main concern is of a noise limits issue. Being one of the great IMOC unwashed with a Nur Spec, I don't want to turn up on the day only to be turned away due to my noisy pipe (even with baffle installed). Does anyone know the limits for Brunters?

 Hang on a minute!

We're looking at getting an IMOC trackday date at Anglesey early spring (possibly 10th and 11th March).

Anglesey is a fantastic track, but I won't deny that Bruntingthorpe would make an excellent venue for a trackday newbie (i.e nothing to hit  )

Please be aware of this though, if you have a preference, or can only afford / want to attend one.....

I remember someone elses NUR spec having a reading of 107db, so bob hope of meeting those noise requirements unless you quiten it down tbh.

the angersea day we will be doing is 105db, so a bit more likely you'll get away with that.

Okay, cool - you're on! :D Based on what Lauren has just said about the Nur Spec, it looks like a case of having to fish out the baffles and the sound meter before I book, though. :(

As I am still a moderator and events organiser for TOC, I'll probably be going along. Doubt I'll have the car on track asd I really want to (prefer to) do Anglesey the following month. Doubt there will be a budget to have the car on track for both events. We'll see...
