Leicester RR Day - Interesting results......

Post by Dangerous »

:-k :-k Hmm

I'm not sure about these power figures......

305.9 ATH @ Thor (1.3 bar)

Now today suddenly 240 ATW -294 at the Flywheel......... 8-[ ](*,) :-k

It was a good turn out (nice to meet some new faces) but with the rollers not working right in the morning (something to do with the magnets that control the load on the wheels), the lack of any a/f ratio ,det or boost monitering makes me very sceptical........ :-k [-(

what does every one else think !!???.....

p.s. I a BIG thanks to mk1chick for sorting it all out =D> =D> (I can't be easy) I don't meen to moan honest!!!! :D :D

there's always debate about the power figures at any RR day I sneaked an early run and got 106 bhp later in the day when the rollers were "working" I gained nearly 9bhp but as we run 8 MK1's at the same time we've got a good comparison figure regardless of the actual stated BHP figure so for the MK1 owners we think it was a worthwhile day

Dave, I have just got back & I must say my results are pretty much what I expected when compared to my Thor figures.

Thor hub figures.

209.4 bhp & 223.2 ft lb torque.

Streetracers flywheel figures.

248.3 bhp & 346.1 Nm torque (266 ft lb).
Drag coastdown loss of 51.4 bhp.

My results were poo, 222bhp at 5165rpm with massive overfueling at 5000rpm.
But i got 245ftlbs of torque at 2640rpm ??? WTF?!?!?

Very peeeeed off but nevermind, just got to spend more money i suppose.

Jo's TDI golf got 170bhp at 3315rpm and 296.7ftlbs!!! of torque at 2640rpm

Only just got home after helping the guys at the garage push all their cars back into the workshop and had a good chat with them about stuff.

I'm going to go back there after i sort my problems for a comparison run (mainly because they are so cheap) and we'll see what happens.

cheers!

From my readings im not so sure that they are out. For a standard car i got:

242.5 BHP @ 6770RPM & 292.4Nm @ 3955RPM

My power graph looked quite different from others with my curve quite smooth from 2000RPM

That would explain your lousy 1/4mile times.

And i thought it was just your driving. :P

Hardy bl**dy Har Har..

And yes it is mainly my driving

Any idea what could be causing the massive overfueling? (something broke?) or is it just the nature of the beast? and i need some sort of fuel control? (emanage etc..)

yeah but what about me..... 8-[

My torque figure po-go's up and down the graph quite badly (the dyno operator said it was fluctuating boost pressure) but it held 1.3 bar steady on the way home......  ](*,) :-k

I still think its down to wheels spin myself, I'm gonna take the plot round to nod tomorrow and compare see what he thinks....... 8-[

Probably just the nature of the beast tbh. What boost pressure are you running?

Brilliant day - really enjoyed myself. We've only just thawed out! :D

246BHP @ 6100 RPM at the flywheel for my tubby was pretty good, I thought, for an 11 year old car with 80,000 miles on the clock. My torque worked out at 234Lbs/ft @ 3270 RPM - not brilliant, but not bad either.

However, I'm now inspired (thanks to Danny and Brook) to get a decent engine management system and increase the boost above stock. This time next year I should get my backside into gear enough to get 300 horses out of ol' Margo.

Really great to see some of the regular crowd and meet some new faces. :thumright: Out of character for me, I spoke to quite a few people this time round, too.

Big thanks to Jo for organising such a brilliant event, as well as feeding and watering the masses. We salut you! :salut: Hopefully this could be a yearly event or something?

One of the highlights of the day was seeing a convoy of 20+ MR2s in my rear mirror as we travelled from the Hobby Horse to Streetracers!
Oh, and not forgetting Danny's Nur Spec registering 108dB... :P

Yep, I agree with the other guys, great turnout, lots of new faces around, and very well done to Jo for the organisation of a good, (but long) day!!

Only downside for me was seeing so many great MR2's now I don't have mine any longer  Although pleasantly suprised to see my Rover made more power than some Rev 3's :P
Still, plans are afoot

Truely awesome day, albeit a little cold but what can we expect for English weather in November  the Turbos love it!

Biggest thanks to Jo for organising such a well organised event =D>

Nice to have met so many people!

Well happy with my 243.9bhp @ 6650rpm, and 214.2lbft @ 5665rpm of torque, considering completely standard other than induction kit.

For people who want to convert their torque figure from "NM" to "LBFT" just multiply the "NM" figure by 0.7376
