I've done a similar thing, drove down the motorway and found I had left my boot open when i arrived at my destination!!!

it does not produce downforce per say...but i think it re channels the air/energy/motion of boat pushing out,example...previous....,
the natural action of motion would be to make the rear end of 2,want to push up/out,as the air running from under flies up past from under...
