Is it me, or is anybody else sort of lost on this thread? This burnell or llenurb or whatever guy is posting stuff that doesn't follow anything else...?

Oh well. Must be me.

Enjoy your 355, don't forget to service it!

Absolutely. I'm not sure if we're discussing how fast an MR2 can go...or declaring mods...or buying Ferraris! :D

In my 31 years, I've known two people who have owned Ferraris, and after spending several minutes telling me how fast they were, both bods complained terribly about the reliability of them.

However, putting on my 'shallow hat' for a second, I certainly wouldn't turn down the opportunity to pose around in a 355 for a day. There! I've said it!

Haha,

Phew. Thought it was me. I try to read everything on here, but this one lost me from the get go....

I'd love a Ferrari, it's the thought of couching up £3500 for a belt change every so often and £1500 for dealer services every 3000 that means I will probably never own one.

Being an 80's freak and Miami Vice fan i'd have to go for the Testarossa as my favourite, though I would love any spider variant.

Anyways, onwards and upwards!

Eh?

My point was that you seem reluctant to post any info on mods because you are scared that an insurer would see it - I was saying that a man of your obvious financial status should be happy to declare *all* mods to their insurance company just like most of us do. If I had a standalone and internals my insurer would know about it.

Why would you hide something of that nature and risk invalidating your cover?

I agree.
^^^^^

"Insurers check this site on claim !" ...ummm...
(Ignoring the fact you should insure your car correctly anyway...)
So from "llenrub" they'll have you nailed eh?
What makes you believe that "Insurers check this site on claim !" ?

Underwriter1 - "Sir, we've got an MR2 crash on line 1"
Underwriter2 - "Goddam those MR2s! Sounds like Mr Llenrub to me - he's also got a 355 you know! Quick, get onto www.imoc.co.uk and look him up, I smell undeclared mods!"
Piffle.
Also - "Because Im in that business" - so you work in the insurance industry? You work in the insurance industry and you don't correctly insure your vehicles?

*Rolls eyes so much I get a bit dizzy, fall to the floor and have a break dancing style rolling fit*

I'm still confused how "running a stand alone ECU and uprated internals" equates to proof that the mods on the car aren't declared to the insurer.
Mk2 NA Rev1 -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev2 -*- Mk1 NA -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev 3 = all gone!

There seems to be a lot of player haters on here. Yes the guy has a ferrari and yes he probably has more money than us and yes if we had the money we would probably swap our MR2 for one.

Not been on the internet long? You get a chap like this every few months - none of them ever turn out to own the "other car" - this chap might be the exception though, it could happen.

and yes he probably has more money than us

You don't need money to own a 355 these days, just a decent credit rating.

and yes if we had the money we would probably swap our MR2 for one.

You'll probably find a lot of people disagree with that comment :)

You still have to pay the loan back and you aint going to get one for less than £30k.

As for player hating i went all gangster there for a minute.

And if a guy in a 355 pulls up next to you in your MR2 and asks if you want to swap keys, you would say?

have you ever actually been in a 355.I have had a spin in two both of which didnt impress.Yes they have a lovely note and are quick but they were both rattly, poorly finished inside, actually starting to rust around some of the seals and cost an absolute fortune to maintain and were notorious for things going wrong. So no i wouldn't swap.

I'd say no.

Imagine the cost of servicing etc. We complain enough about Toyota prices!!

Yes - the baiter/troll/Joey will say they have some car (usually 'one up' from the car they intend to insult) and to add credence they'll also say they "have an MR2"* (*Replace as appropriate, e.g. if you fancy 'dissing' some Saxos, simply go on to a Saxo forum and say that you own a Focus ST170 and a Saxo VTS, then say how cruddy you think the Saxo is, as you 'own' one you can say what you like, right?)
Standard "Teh internet!11! stuff I'm afraid, as Michael says, this guy might be genuine, but from the drivel he's already posted I'd wager otherwise...

PS
I own five Ferrari 355s, each one is poo. I can say Ferrari 355s are poo because I own five of them.

Should get MR2 back in 2 weeks. Whilst I will be running only 360 hp, It will be built to run 450 hp. All I need after this is to take the engine out and fit it to a cart that can handle it!
