£1900 hey Pete! Know what you mean mate, had similar quotes myself.

Speak to Ken see if he can do you a good deal, at least you have the benefit of being 23, and not 20 like me!

Ken always says to me when he is doing the docs for my Imports that they insure the SC at the same price as an NA - surely it wouldnt cost you £1900 for an NA.

Dont bother with AON, in my experience, no-one will beat Houghton.

Yep, speak to Houghton - I've got my MK1 insured with them, and recently had to move it from a Classic fully comp to 3 PF&T - there were a few hiccups on the way, but they did sort it (and price match a lower quote) so I'd certainly recommend them.

Dorset IMHO at the moment are getting more and more expensive - I've been with them for years with my Mk2s, but they're now limiting track cover, not doing pro-rata refunds on policies etc ... I'm afraid they're losing their edge comapired against other insurers.

I'd have to say houghtons as well, just insured my NA for £239 fully comp based on 5000 miles per year, excess of £100. Next best was close to £1000. I'm only 27 and haven't had my own insurance for years.

They ignored the fact that I've crashed a few of my company cars (not my fault honest - bloody Vectras) and managed to get 3 points in a Toyota Prius. Also when I spoke to them first wasn't sure about the MR2 or going for a Fairlady (medallion was at the ready), they said the quote would be the same, only the excess would go up.

Hi Pete

Don't know if this makes you feel good or bad, but I drive an MK2 with quite a few mods, I'm 20 with one year NCB... They quote me £1400. I pay it monthly by installment and it doesn't hurt so bad.

It seems you're being shafted! I'm with Endsleigh, perhaps you could try them?

I voted for you to keep the car as it looks totally mint. If you can afford the insurance then do it. None of us run these cars cause they are cheap although your experience is pushing that boat a bit far

Pete, dont be stupid man.

You've come along way with the SC, waited along time for Julian to bring it over for you, dont just give it up this easy and go for an OTS solution like a Rev 3 Mk2.

Nothing is ever easy, but your car is worth waiting for, and it will become easier next year for you.
