official toyota floor mats

Post by dave wall »

if anyone is thinking about going to toyota for a set of replacement mats.....don't bother.

I just had the misfortune of ordering some in and paying £50 for them and they certainly aint £50's worth! I was expecting nice thick luxury carpet....instead they're about as good as £20 halfords jobbies....except they fit.

my mate bought a set of official vauxhall mats for his calibra, cost him £30 and they're far better than these toyota ones.....and he got 4 of them!!!

Mr T's pukka gen6 Celica mats are the best mats I've EVER had.
Would've expected the MR2 ones to be of similar quality though

I got some from ebay a couple of weeks ago. Paid £20 for them inc. delivery! Good quality, black and tailored to fit the mr2 floor layout.

yeah, my old ones were from ebay, and about that price, customcarwizard if memory serves.

they lasted okay, but didnt fasten down properly and all the edges curled up after not too long. I'm hoping the toyota ones will last a bit better.

Are you sure they are genuine mats? The proper ones are 79 quid from Toyota, and have the MR2 logo embroidered into the bottom corner.

well...they were from my local toyota dealer so I guess they're genuine ;)

He said that there were 2 types of mats that came up on the EPC. Black for £50 or blue for £75, so obviously I went for black. I actually asked about the MR2 logo, but he didn't know. He reckoned these were the only mats available. humph :(

Hmm, how much were the black ones you ordered Grant?
The ones i've seen are indeed Grey with the MR2 logo in the corner.
Perhaps Toyota are doing some cheaper spec mats ,like they do with other replaceable parts, for instance the 'optifit' wipers, they sell which are cheaper than the original equipment wipers. :?

Forgot to ask, are you ordering from your chassis no? It may be that GT and GTS and UK spec had different mats. I remember seeing some GTS interiors and found that the mats were almost a tweed finish (horrible) with the MR2 logo in the corner
