Losing the glasses would mean I couldn't see you.... and I'd get your blood in my eyes.... I'll keep them on, they are titanium and very flexible, plus they won't be receiving any blows so it's not an issue ;)

I think its reasonably obvious that the age of MR2 owners is getting younger, particularly so with teh MK2.

With this comes a much 'younger' attitude over what the car represents. What those younger drivers want out of a car is naturally different from some of us older types (gulp!). But what we should remember is that we were there once and really there is nothing wrong with wanting to stick loads of ice, bodykits etc on a car.

I think we should appreciate that it is these younger drivers who will progress and probably think much like we do in ten years time and are the enthusiasts of the future.

I think we need to realise that diversity in owners motives and wants isn't necessarily a bad thing. The last thing we or anyone for that matter should do is look down on owners who are into the Fast Car/Max Power scene as it only serves to widen the gap even more.

kinda agree with lauren there, i think the MK2 appeals to younger types than the MK1 though but that's probably due to the amount of stick on tat for it :D

i myself like the way the MK1's and MK2's look as standard! although the MKII can look ok with the right kits, toms or bomex or the ultimate TRD kits are nice, i just don't feel the need to change the looks of my MKII though and a decent kits is lots of cash i'd rather spend else where on the car to be honest.

Ammon that avatar is taking the p1ss, far too wide and it's screwing up the formatting of the forum.

Sort it out, someone impose limits - if the mods can't show some restraint I hate to think what a mess it will be when the normals can upload them!

It's nearly 2mb FFS!!!

I have got a lot of things to do, thanks, and they don't all revolve around my car. I'm not worried about what type of person drives MR2s; it was just a simple observation to provoke reaction and opinions on this board, not a ticket to character assasination FFS. I thought it would make a pleasant change from all those 'I got flashed by a Gatso' threads.

Kieron wrote:It's been this way for some time now. As cars get older they get cheaper, they are powerful motors for the money, 2 seaters and the muppet brigade are buying them.

They are not exclusive anymore because they are affordable to the kids. Every performance car suffers the same fate eventually.

The Supra wasn't helped by the "Fast & Furious" movie...

Only thing to do is sell up and move up if it bothers you. Step up to a 350z, a 348 Ferrari, an S2000 etc for more exclusivity that we used to enjoy here 5 years ago.....

Not really any other answer, apart from enjoy your motors and ignore everyone else....

A Ferrari 348 has got to be the sh&*test Fezza out there (other than the 400i), handles like a dog, heavy, slow and owned by people like Michael Gambon, hardly an upgrade for an MR2. Try a 308 if you want modernish ferraris that are any good but cheap, but lets face it, no-one will.

Most chavs buy low insurance rated cars, then over mod them, achieve no power gains cos the car was s%&t to start with, dont declare any to the insurance, then try and race you at any oppurtunity or drive around like tools at the very limit of their handling skills. Mr2s wont appeal to many as they are still expensive to insure and there's not enough room for a huge sub without serious work. Nuff said.

Chill dude.

It was only an example! (348) And do you really believe that it's not an upgrade from a 2???? You watch too much Clarkson.

As for "nuff said" (wikkid man), how come there ARE so many chav's driving 2's hmm??

I went for a long drive in mine on Sunday with my son, we saw 4 other MR2 MK2's, three of them were early examples driven by kids in baseball caps, 1 was a lovely "V" reg example being driven by a guy pushing 40.

They ARE insuring them. Hell when I was 18 back in '88 I was insuring XR3i's, 5 Turbo's etc - I worked hard and paid the bill. I also lived at home, had no mortgage/rent, no credit to pay etc etc and my car was my life.

Are you upset that you've invested a lot of money into a late model 2 and now the kids have them and are pushing their way into the exclusivity of the MR2 (which isn't a very exclusive car at all anymore seeing as you can pick them up on ebay for pennies nowadays.....), pushing down the value and public perception of your own car?

The only exclusive 2 now is the MK1.

There are deffo chavs buying mr2s everywhere but I usually see them driving pretty knackered rev1/2 NAs..the type bought for around 1.5k. I never see them again for obvious reasons  . But I dont see chavs in Turbos..not yet anyway. Probably because they crash em straight after purchase.
