Someone bought the purple rev5 TRD (one of 3 in europe), there was a massive debate on whether it was real and everyone was jealous regardless.

Turns out it is real, it's a stunning car and the guy who got it is perfect and will love and cherish it as he should.

Turned out it wasn't modified by TRD though wasn't it?

How can a TRD MR2 not be modified by TRD? The body was totally reworked (obviously) and the engine had a fair few toys on. :cyclops:

I spent a day with the car and owner up at rogue, it's a stunning machine.

Hi Jon,

I think it was you I was talking to at Thor on Friday when Andy had his TRD2000GT on the rolling road. Any news from Andy on what the output was?

Hi Tony,

It was. I think Andy is keeping the power figures to himself until he can get it pulled apart and remapped as he didn't want to damage the internals (they've no idea what's in there).

Rogue spotted it had one large headgasket, should be an interesting puzzle to pull apart :-k

I wasn't sure though. I remember someone saying it had HKS parts on it. May have been wrong I guess. Anyway. It is a fantastic car.

Eh? It has been tuned by TRD.

Where the hell do these rumours come from?

The figures that came out that day where exactly the same as tubby_tony (good to meet you mate!) and the mr2 that run earlier that day. (1-2Bhp between them, very weird).

I didn't bother getting it remapped until I find out exactly whats in there. Im trying to get hold of miguel from newera as he knows most about the car.

However there is a dyno floating about with 340bhp at the wheels for my car ( from Miguel ).

Problem is is that the car looks like it has standard fuel injectors.

Thor said they have never got an mr2 past 300 at the hubs with standard fuel injectors....

I have also been told the car was at the import place for 2-3weeks trying to get it through the MOT because of emissions.

The story continues.

Anycar that can eat tyres that quickly without going on the track must have some serious power whatever the dyno reads O:)

Hi Andy,

Irrespective of the output you got on Friday, that is still one gorgeous car. Are you thinking the large injectors were replaced to help it get through the emissions test when it was imported?

Hi Tony,

You have a sweet 2 there mate!!

It's certainly a possibility.. a bit a of job as I understand it.

All they said to Trevor when he picked it up is you will have to get it remapped as they played around with the car to get the emissions down.

Who knows what that means.

Im going to try and find out more info, If I can't then it's down to rogue to see what they can find out.

Just seems a bit odd as it has a lot of uprated stuff.. but is only running that much power through it. A bit over the top to say the least.

I will get to the bottom of it one day. :D

1st thing im going to do is get that bypass pipe off and put a downpipe on.
