Hello, just wondering if anyone can recommend a good set of coilovers for the MK1? My springs are pretty rusty and tbh id rather upgrade to adjustable coilovers than go to the expense of replacing the oe suspension. The car may be tracked so i would need good adjustment to try to dial out the uinherent understeer from the light front end.
Also anyone any idea how much new shock and springs are for the MK1 all round?
The cheap option:
Koni SSK, full set of adjustable shocks with stiffer and lower (40mm) springs. Should be able to get the kit for about 370ish
The expensive option:
LEDA coilovers - anywhere from 1-2k depending on your choice of damping medium.

The Ledas and Fightex should be ok to set at standard ride height.
The only springs that I've found that don't lower the car too much are Whiteline (15mm ish) and the Fensport custom ones (you decide on the spring rate and ride height. These are non-coilover springs BTW.
Chris
You can have Leda standard ride height. You can have them any height you like
There's been a few enquiries on them I am wondering whether to run another GP. 30% off normal retail prices you see.

Looks right. 30% off that price with 10 names makes them very reasonable indeed (note am not sure if that is plus vat or vat in?)
I got the whole kit and caboodle (gas filled double adjustables) for something like £1700 in the last GP.
Just incase anyone is interested I've put a post up in the GP section, I'll organise and run it if we have enough interest, the guys at Leda know me quite well now.

Holy crap! Thats what it cost for me to buy the car and do the turbo conversion!
I'd reckon that a Koni kit, at around 350 quid would be more than adequate. You'd be surprised at how little the car gets lowered - the standard springs have probably sagged anyway.

DING.
Though the leda kit is i guess the ultimate, putting konis, springs and bushes on the car will totally transform the handling and for a lot less money too.
I've driven a well setup race MK1 with Ledas and it was fantastic... i'd have to admit that. Though i've had mucho fun driving various MK1s in all guises on Konis and KYBs. Konis get my vote.
Just out of interest what is the main use for the car (to original poster)?

It's what I'm going for. As nice as Ledas would be there's no way I can justify that sort of outlay. Bushes are on the way and I'm looking to buy the Konis anytime soon. If anyone has suitable contacts and can organise a GP on the Konis i'd definately be interested.
anyone have any info about the coilovers on the club site advertised by fast road automobiles? £550 they are listed as http://www.mr2mk1club.com/suppindx.html
