Metallic paint - Lacquer application ?

Post by Oscar_Whild »

I have just resprayed under my rear wheel arches after removing and treating some surface rust. I was going to apply the lacquer tonight after leaving the paint for 24 hours. I didn't get around to it -
A. It was too cold, garage like a fridge !!!
B. I am not really sure on the correct method. I have been told to remove the masking tape and spray over the new paint and some of the surrounding area. Is this right ? What next ?
Any help gratefully received...
Thanks

its best to do that when putting on base layer too if you mask area of and spray upto the line of tape it s impossible to blend it in to the paint work,

best to set gun to cover a small area , mask off surrounding area 30cm away

any overspray can be blended in with cutting compounds

does this apply when spraying a different panel, e.g. when spraying a front bumper do you need to overspray to the hood?? (sorry noob question probably)
