so long as you dont run silly boost, service them regularly and dont mod them too much, they are extremely reliable on the whole.

when something does break, it is usually something like ignition components or anything else that is cheap to replace.

If you leave it stock and service it properly then you'll get over 200k miles on one easily like the chaps in the US do.

Start hiking up the boost and not servicing it properly it increases the risk of problems :)
Small turbos - they're not big and they're not clever!

Just say NO to small turbos!

Touch wood. Mine's been very reliable :D

Keep an eye on coolant and oil levels, regular servicing.

should see you right for a reliable engine

They are very reliable, as long as you look after them! The only thing I've had wrong with any of my MR2s over the years has been a failed driver-side central locking thingy - a common fault that certainly isn't expensive to fix.
Mk2 NA Rev1 -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev2 -*- Mk1 NA -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev 3 = all gone!

One thing i would add is that they weren't cheap cars when they were new so parts prices sparewise tends to be a bit expensive compared to your average shopping car.
