Re: Supra ct26 vs mr2 ct26
yes,the physical difference is a larger compressor on the supra ct26 and a single entry exhaust housing, but when you put the compressor section of the supra ct26 onto an mr2 twin entry exhaust housing it gains even more.

The actual performance difference is very noticeable, the mr2 ct26 runs out of steam at 5000rpm,the supra ct26 keeps on pulling hard into 6500rpm,you can pick em up for
£50 too.

an st185 ct26 is the same spec as a mk2 mr2 ct26
.
.
.
here's a spec sheet on this page with various turbo upgrades
,note the difference in compressor size between the 3s-gte ct26 and the supra one

Re: Supra ct26 vs mr2 ct26
hi chris,it will with a little modding, nothing major though.
.
.
.you need to split the ct26 supra turbo away from its exhaust housing, then remove a tiny dowel from it so that it can be rotated to its new position on the mr2 wastegate. Then a similar small dowel needs removing from the compressor housing so that too can be rotated to line up withthe turbo outlet elbow. After that the mr2 actuator is used and 4mm shaved off the actuator mounting point on the compressor housing, its no big deal.

They fit on pretty easily, Not much work to do and they are slightly more powerful than the standard one.

Do you need to do any bearing or seal replacements if you split the turbo?

Cheers

could i do all that myself? is it just a matter of ripping bits off it then sticking bits of MR2 stuff to it then bolting it on?

whats the difference between the supra CT26 and MR2 CT26 that lets it pull higher up the revs?
Re: Supra ct26 vs mr2 ct26
thats correct, and yes u can do it yourself, but make sure u use a lot of WD40 and let em soak overnight, they tend to get a little stuck lol

Re: Supra ct26 vs mr2 ct26
To be honest the hardest bit is fiddling about with the oil feed and water pipes, but ive found it can be done in situ without having to remove ANY of the exhaust cat or elbow.
.
.
.you are basically splitting the turbo in half, removing the turbiney bit and bolting the supra turbiney bit on instead.Small bit of machining to the actuator mounting point, remove a few dowels.
.rotate things in the right direction, job done.

The supra ct26 pulls harder and for longer due to its bigger compressor turbine.Talk to andyGT hes done it and considers himself as techincally apt as most, its not that hard mate.

Re: Supra ct26 vs mr2 ct26
Larger intake impeller, the larger design being more efficient at higher rpm.

I just got one on ebay today for 60 quid.
Along with one of those downpipes from the group buy, it should make a good upgrade for the mr2T lump to go in the mk1.
