Fuel pump

Hi guys,
I have a 1994 Turbo and have done all tests relating to a fuel pump issue and looks like the pump is kaput!
Is it possible to remove the old pump and replace without dropping the fuel tank?

nope. Drop the tank, its not as hard as they say.

Only way is tank out.
hard parts are the rear pressure line and maybe snapped undertray bolts.

Bring a friend, much easier. Read a guide too before starting

It's a freaking PITA! Not technically complex, but somewhat awkward, at least solo.

There was two of us that did it on stands.
Undertrays were already off but thats not exactly hard to do.
We did it in a few hrs and that was redropping it as we had the wires caught in the interior when putting it back up.

Yes indeed I can imagine it's awkward enough. New fuel pump ordered, car up on stands and ready for the operation. Any safety tips or precautions on removal? Don't think I can make a quick enough exit if it all blows up:))

Disconnect the battery before messing about with the pump
