Induction kit/cone filter

Hi, looking for some advice regarding the air filter on my rev 3 na.

Sorry if this seems obvious or covered before but ive searched and not sure what my best option is. Obviously there are mixed opinions on standard box vs induction kit but this is the setup on the car when i bought it.

The filter is knackered, its been cleaned before but even the rubber mounting is cracking now and i want to replace it.

Is it best for me to just buy a cone filter and if so what would people suggest? Or should i buy an induction kit and remove the rest of the original housing/tubing?

Con filters are not necessarily going to give you power but, especially if you replace all the rubber pipework and resonators, they can give you an awesome noise to make you grin!

I used most of the original piping & stuck a K&N Apollo on the end with my rev 1

There are small differences between the two setups - most notably, the ventilation is on a micro-filter on yours, but is plumbed in on the one in the video, getting rid of the sucking noise on idle. The filter is also closer in to the side vent on the newer one. There's nearly a decade between my construction of the two, though, which is plenty enough time for me to think about some tweaks!

Ive thought about plumbing it in but when i see how it gets clogged up, i dont know.

Thanks for the responses guys, i may end up replacing all the pipework in the near future but for now i just ordered the replacement k&n filter for my model for a much cheaper price then the whole kit price.

i removed my cone filter and fitted a cda type unit with the pipework way down near the body intake , prob personal taste but i like it way more than the cone one ...
