Just money could be an issue. I don't know if the previous seller has to participate in the costs. According to the customer advisers, although it's a private seller I have the right to ask him to cover the repairs, or even gave the car back and get my money back.
Ideally I'd keep the car and get the repair done though, and hope I don't have to go through a legal battle with him, we'll see

Like ^ says, who's to say what the condition the engine was in when you left vs a question of how you drove it when you got it. There's not much proof of either.
Thats the big gamble when buying a car that hasn't seen much use in recent years/months - anything could decide to give up the ghost when its given a decent stretch out on the road. No matter how long it has been 'dry stored for xx years, only run on shell unobtainium, never thrashed etc etc'
