[Mk2] [NA] ignition problem and no spark?

Hi There

When I turn the key to crank no power to going to the starter. If I manually add power after big plug under steering wheel it cranks no problem.

What is on the circuit from the key to this plug or what could be causing this from happening?

Also when I do crank the engine there is no spark? What could this be?

Any help would be great.

As said in your other thread this sounds like an alarm immobiliser that is disabling both circuits

I have ripped the alarm out.

And have you made sure you got every connection?

If the car cranks if you supply power to the big block connector at the bottom of the steering column then either there's a break in the wiring between the ignition switch and that connector or the ignition switch is faulty both are easy to test, either do a continuity test from the sta terminal on the ignition switch to that block or use a thick bit of wire and short the b+ terminal at the ignition switch to the sta pin and it should turn over

By ripped out do you mean you have pulled the sounder and/office from box out by either unplugging or cutting the wires? If that's the case you will leave the car disabled.
Get u red the dash driver's side with all the trim out of the way. Follow all the ignition wires back from the barrel and at some point you will find one of the ignition wires (at least one, maybe 2) cut and probably black wires attached to each cut end.

Remove the attached alarm wires and rejoin the mr2 wire back together. You may need to do this on the fuel feed also. Some immobilizers work on just one circuit, some can work on 3!

I cut the alarm out and put the car back to standard but resoldering wires etc. When you say the ignition switch, is that just the barrel?

On the end of the ignition barrel is a plastic switch which is what the key activates you can access all the pins on the back of it for testing

I have changed the switch and it is still not cranking.

There is no power getting to terminal ST2, what else shall I check?

Surely something is wrong between the battery and that switch.

The AM2 fuse also looks ok.

The st2 wire goes from the switch to a block connector in the passenger footwell, I'd test for continuity from he started pin on the switch to that block connector and if you have continuity there then from that block connector to the starter relay in the boot.
