Awesome results on map, the before and after map plot look crazy

Nice work on the Honda and even better on the mapping session.
Good work.

Re: JLW's ( REV 3 GT spec Turbo, smg Tbar ) YVS Performance Built
Small update over the weekend, Played around with some different tyre ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
pressures as Adrian at Fensport mentioned he felt the slow driving![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
dampening
& rebound quite hard, but possibly linked to the AD08R's hard sidewalls.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Cant hurt to have a pal around, so tried 27psi front and 29psi rear.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
At first I really liked it.
It seemed to soak up undulations in the road really ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
well, but the more I drove I disliked the turn in.
The tyres felt under inflated ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
even when up to temp.
So I'm going to go up in PSI front and rear by 1psi ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
and see how that is.
Also going to soften the front coil's and just fine tune the ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
handling, Its free and quite fun tweaking to my preferred spec.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Another small job was to clean the engine bay, after YVS's forged build
it had become a bit dusty in the bay and decided to give it a wash with![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Autoglym engine and machine cleaner, then once agitated with my long reach![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
wheel brush, jet washed off and dried.
Followed up by a engine silicone dresser
to smarten up and preserve the rubber hoses.

I run ad08r and you want them around 32 hot on track so on the road id run them at 32 as you'll never really give them much on the road compared to track.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Great tyres though i was very impressed with them so much so i run them on my mr2 and impreza

Hi Pal
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Do you not run lower PSI on the fronts
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I thought that was pretty much a MR2 standard,
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I am going to slowly go up in PSI, and find a good balance
for road.

I do 32 rear, 30 front on my AD08R's
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Bc coilovers with about 16 clicks hard on the rear and I think its the same on the front.
Seems to work well

I just play around with the pressures to be honest, as like you said if you go to low at the font it feels sluggish on turn in.

Re: JLW's ( REV 3 GT spec Turbo, smg Tbar ) YVS Performance Built
There's a relationship between tyre pressure, tyre load rating, and the cars weight distribution, generally on an MR2 you want a bit more pressure rear because of the rear weight bias.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
As said above best thing to do is adjust til it feels about right.
Another thing you can do is measure tyre temperatures.
Higher temperature towards the middle suggests over inflation, higher temperature on the sides suggests under inflation.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: JLW's ( REV 3 GT spec Turbo, smg Tbar ) YVS Performance Built
Tonight I'm going to inflate fronts to 28PSI and rears to 30PSI, ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
take it for a spin on some of the good local roads and see,![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
probably will end up with 29PSI front and 31PSI rear tbh,![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Im also running 16 clicks rear and 20 clicks front
( from valve fully open
)
So I think my hard front end has more to do with that,![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Am going to try the tyre pressures first then go 18 clicks on the front.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Its all enjoyable anyway, finding out what you like best

Re: JLW's ( REV 3 GT spec Turbo, smg Tbar ) YVS Performance Built
Been a bit slack on posting lately but have a few updates, not ideal updates ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
but hey issues occur right
?!
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
So of late I have been just having fun blasting around roof off, feeling like![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I'm getting faster and more and more learning the chassis with every drive even after 2 years.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
But since the Fensport map I have been experiencing what I believed to be boost cut issues.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
On hard 1st gear launches or pulls, as you change into 2nd it would sometimes not boost properly![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
or even completely and violently cut, and be fine after.
The final straw was when I had a 4th gear ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
roll on from out of boost into boost and up to about 5.2k up a hill and boom
( not literally lol
) ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
the entire engine cut out
! had nothing on the gas pedal but brakes and steering unaffected, ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
coasted to a stop and into a drive.
Turned the engine off, back on again and no issues
! ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Drove home cautiously but as I was close to the house I did another hard pull in 2nd.
No problem
!
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Called Fensport and managed to get it booked in with them to check the map,![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Drove the 2 and a 1/2 hours up to Chatteris and they plugged the mapping
gear onto the car.
Nearly immediately Tom Hudson spotted what they believe ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
to be the culprit, Alternator
.
.
.
the laptop was showing that the car on idle is ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
running 16v and should be sat somewhere around 10,11,12 at most.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Tom mentioned that the LINK G4 Storm has a 18v map cut and this would![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
explain the sudden cut outs, So I need to take the Alternator off, get it![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
reconditioned and then go back up for an hours re-map session to bring it
down to safe voltage.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Not ideal, but these things happen, although surely when they mapped the car![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
at 16v did they not think
"This is high, could this be a problem"
?
At least there isnt any serious issues, However you wouldn't expect there to be![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
considering its a two month old forged build and fresh map.
The drive train ![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
is practically all new
!
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
but hey issues occur right
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
So of late I have been just having fun blasting around roof off, feeling like
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I'm getting faster and more and more learning the chassis with every drive even after 2 years.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
But since the Fensport map I have been experiencing what I believed to be boost cut issues.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
On hard 1st gear launches or pulls, as you change into 2nd it would sometimes not boost properly
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
or even completely and violently cut, and be fine after.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
roll on from out of boost into boost and up to about 5.2k up a hill and boom
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
the entire engine cut out
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
coasted to a stop and into a drive.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Drove home cautiously but as I was close to the house I did another hard pull in 2nd.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![Think :-k](./images/smilies/eusa_think.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Called Fensport and managed to get it booked in with them to check the map,
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Drove the 2 and a 1/2 hours up to Chatteris and they plugged the mapping
gear onto the car.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
to be the culprit, Alternator
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
running 16v and should be sat somewhere around 10,11,12 at most.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Tom mentioned that the LINK G4 Storm has a 18v map cut and this would
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
explain the sudden cut outs, So I need to take the Alternator off, get it
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
reconditioned and then go back up for an hours re-map session to bring it
down to safe voltage.

Re: JLW's ( REV 3 GT spec Turbo, smg Tbar ) YVS Performance Built
Could be a recent fault with the alternator, I'd be surprised if they didn't notice voltage issues when mapping.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Could also go for a refurb
/ exchange alternator.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

I asked Adrian and he said it needs to come back for mapping as we mapped
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
it at 16v
