Engine bay heat shield mat - replacement options.

Post by stecad »

The black mat that sits on the bulkhead is rather tatty and may clean up but replacement insulation sheets seem cheap enough.
As the engine is out I could easily replace it. I've had a look around and been chatting with a company called "Car Insulation" in Nuneaton but they are worried about the heat from the proximity of the exhaust/turbo.

Has anyone replaced theirs and where's the best place to buy it from?

thanks

I would lose the mat completely and replace with heat reflective tape. Take a look at dei products...

How much extra cabin noise would there be without this mat?

None....the mat doesn't serve as noise protection imho; purely for heat control.
